Do you think that Dan should continue the sarcastic jokes of his recent videos (Tea Party and I'm Not British) or do you think that Dan's personality is better suited for his old style which was true opinions and excitement
Personally I find his recent videos displeasing even though they are obviously jokes.
What do you guys think?

Well I like the direction it's going, I think he's having a bit of a rough start. Satire is an art, and it take some practice to get good at making it funny.

His new style of vlogging is meant to make you think a little bit more. His older vlogs were very direct, to the point, and basically left no food for thought; he did all of the thinking for you. I actually like this new form of vlogging.

I was surprised by how many people never realized it was satire. I think some of the FSM'ers were irritated that their personal satire was directed toward something they hate, which is ironic, because satire is supposed to be directed at things you disagree with anyway. (Did I just call satire ironic? Geez that's i--*shot by reader*)

I know I may be asking too much in saying this, but I really enjoyed it when he was running pogobat and DBU seperatly, the DBU channel used for everyday, small vloggity vligs, and pogobat for large important videos. I know it may have been too much work for dan, but that's how I liked it.

I think one of the reasons people are so off-put by Dan's recent attempts at satire is because of his earlier established vlogging style. We're so used to him being straight with us that it feels awkward when he starts being sarcastic. Imagine the feeling you get when a typically mean and cranky neighbor all of a sudden starts smiling at you and saying "Good morning!" when they see you get your paper. I think that, essentially, the same thing is happening with some of these newer videos.
Humanity prefers predictability and consistency, as it keeps from triggering our innate fear of the unknown.

The only problem with satire is really well illustrated by all the people that thought that Team America was a serious movie about the way the world should work and took "America, fuck yeah" as their theme song. It was an amazing film as it managed to make the majority happy by making one half of the world think they were joking and the other half think they were serious, and everyone picked and choose what was a joke meaning the opposite and what was a point being made until they had their own movie.
I think they're funny though, and at first I was very "WTF?" about the FSM but then I realised the infinite glory of it all. and it's only been two videos, who knows what he's gonna do next.

I have been touched by His noodly appendages and I believe. All hail FSM. All hail Palin. Praise Dan Brown.

I don't worship dan brown so he can do whatever he pleases. ^ Ya. xD I mean of course you have a right to like or dislike his style, but when it comes down to it, it's HIS channel and HIS videos and he should do what makes HIM happy.

Ok, I read all of the responses and I am impressed you all made valid points and I feel my opinions changing...... ITS DECIDED I will with-hold all judgment untill future videos are released because he is new to this style but I still think his personality is better suited to his old style; again with-holding judgment untill future videos

I love how when he did the education videos and the tribe videos everyone says he was being too serious and they wanted him to be silly again. He made a hilariously silly video about the FSM and everyone freaks out because he wasn't taking tea parties seriously.

Wait...this video was a joke? DDDD=
I haven't been around long enough to see much complaining, but in general, that seems to be the case: People complain about the lack of change, so something changes -- and they complain about the change. In the wise words of CrracktheSkye ten posts up:
Oh well. I liked it. =I

Yeah, Agreed, Danielle - The audience is fickle indeed.
I agree that Dan should do what makes Dan happy. It is, afterall, his show, and naturally completely his right to do with it as he pleases. While he may be losing a few followers here and there currently as a result in the change of style, Stephen Colbert is an excellent example of the fact that a good satirist has just as much, if not more, potential for popularity as a broadcaster than one that gives you the facts straight out in manageable spoon-fed methodology. He really had me going at the beginning of his tea party video, and I think the outcome made me respect him all the more for being able to joke like that.
Well played, Dan Brown.

Well, I didn't like Dan's new videos. If satire is what he's after, he has a lot of work to do - I found it neither funny nor providing a clear critique. I subscribed to Dan because he looked at things in a serious sincere fashion (years ago now). I already became somewhat annoyed when he decided to take the channel in a more entertainment (over content) route a while back. I liked how he was returning to discussing his opinions on various issues recently. However, I suspect that the majority of Youtube users do not agree with me and prefer silliness over serious discussion; which means it is in Dan's best interest to take that route. I do hope, though that Dan doesn't fall into the trap of being all cheap entertainment and no substance (as for example Ray William Johnson has).

I love how when he did the education videos and the tribe videos everyone says he was being too serious and they wanted him to be silly again. He made a hilariously silly video about the FSM and everyone freaks out because he wasn't taking tea parties seriously. Obviously those were different groups of people. We are not all of one mind, some people like serious things and some like funny things and some people like both but their senses of humour don't match up. You can't please everyone so you have to make the videos that please you and ignore the critics. Well, I didn't like Dan's new videos. If satire is what he's after, he has a lot of work to do - I found it neither funny nor providing a clear critique. I do hope, though that Dan doesn't fall into the trap of being all cheap entertainment and no substance (as for example Ray William Johnson has). Considering the last gorilla video got some thing like 700 thumbs down ( and that's normally hard to get for anyone for whom subscribers account for most of the views) I think most people agree with you. I mean i didn't even know who Justin Beiber was! Anyway it doesn't matter because I unsubscribed, my subscription box is already filled with more awesome videos than I have time to watch, and I don't think I need to subscribe because the Brownies here will mention his videos often enough. In the end we can't fault him for being a 19 year old boy. It's just I'm a 23 year old girl so it's not my demographic, Dan should go on making whatever the hell kind of video he wants and I wish him all the best with it, after all "Have Fun" is one of our values!
