What really grinds my gears about a number of religions is that it teaches children that the only purpose of our lives is auditioning for our next one. It teaches us to be good out of fear of punishment, instead of being good because we know it's right. How Christians have gotten away with scaring people into believing for 2000 years, and for jewish people however long before that, I'll never understand. The bible is a horrid cursed thing, there are so many examples of this, but the only ones YOU hear are the pretty little passages about love that your pastor or priest picks for you to hear on Sunday's. If you ever took the time to actually read the bible, or research a few of the less frilly frolicking passages, you'd see that the bible is a horrible vicious place, where rape is ok, you can beat your slaves as long as they don't die within two days, and you're are perfectly within the law of the bible to kill your children if they talk back to you, the smart little bastards. What's your opinion on this Pogo Tribe? Well, speaking as a Christian, I'd have to say my opinion is that this will probably be the last post I'll make. Reading this thread was akin to experiencing a verbal kidney punch. See, I really would like to participate in the discussions. I would love to sit down and talk religion and philosophy with people. I'd like to join a triad and start a project. The thing that stops me is when I see crap like this being spouted, and instead of people becoming outraged at the intolerance and hatred towards Christians being demonstrated, I read a thread full of people say "yes, hmm I see your point" as if the OP said something completely rational. So, until this community becomes a little less hostile towards Christians, I'm afraid I must leave. pdbaz.

I get what you mean - this forum quite often seems to have strong opinions about Christianity, but I really think it's in your interest to stay! Just remember that while lots of people are saying bad thing about Christianity, most of them do realise that there are also good thing about Christanity, this just isn't the thread for it. Perhaps try and get them to reduce their hostility without leaving?

I haven't read through this particular thread in detail yet (and unfortunately don't have time to do so at the moment, with only about 5 minutes to spare), but if you think a point has been made unfairly or with undue bias, then the best thing to do is reason out your counter-point. I'm sure most of us here are not trying to be unfair. If everyone who disagrees with a point just leaves, who's going to be left to correct any misinformation or to balance the views?

I have had the same problem with some people on this forum assuming that all Christians are the same. Some people think that Christians all look like this: We aren't all like this. By assuming that all people on this forum are against Christianity is almost the same as them assuming that all Christians are the same.

evets, I don't know why you are getting so angry about it, personally as a right-winged Christian zombie I really like the fact that there is so many leftist-Atheists Obama lovers here, it gives me people to debate with. If people here would have thesame ideologies as me, I would't find this "tribe" to be and fun.

Yes, clearly those first two responses were completely hostile and were NOT addressing the same points you just did. I'm sorry, but come on. I haven't had time to read the thread, but if you just read those first two replies you would understand that not everybody groups ALL Christians under the specific characteristics stated in the OP.
