I don't think women wanting rights equal to those of men is annoying. Male chauvinism is annoying.

A male chauvinist is what you get called when you're winning a debate with a feminist. A feminist on the other hand, is someone who handles the whole gender equality issue wrongly.

I don't really get the question.
It's like saying which is more annoying: racism or racial equality?
I'd say that male chauvinism is much more than just annoying. & everyone should be feminists!

Hmm, this is a strange topic. This is like having a thread entitled, "Jews vs. Al Qaeda. Who's more extreme?". You could change it to Masculism vs. Feminism, but that's like saying, "Bass Guitar vs. Drums. Who's more responsible for groove?"
Strange topic is strange..

Feminism isn't simply believing in racial equality. Feminism is about establishing and protecting women's rights. So, it's really a gender specific ideology.

I honestly can't see how the two are comparable.

This discussion is pointless, go make me a sammich. KIDDING, KIDDING. Personally, I'm a masculinist. You don't see that every day. In fact, masculinism isn't even in Firefox's spellcheck (But then again, neither is Firefox or spellcheck...). But yeah, male chauvinism is very annoying. And: "Bass Guitar vs. Drums. Who's more responsible for groove?" BRAINSPLODE. This may be the first music question I've ever received that is unanswerable. As much as I love the bass... Imma have to say drums.

The question isn't "is feminism annoying?", it's "which is more annoying?" If you don't find feminism annoying, but you find chauvinism annoying then you obviously think it's MORE annoying than something you don't find annoying at all.
If you don't find either annoying, then you don't have to answer the question or you can answer as neither.

But the question insinuates that they're both annoying. Yes, EXTREME feminists are annoying, but so is an extreme anything. If you think feminism is annoying, you either don't understand feminism, or you're an asshole. Period.

Most people have only seen extreme feminists. I think that's where that opinion is derived from.

I'm just going to flat out say it: Chicks rule.
Feminism isn't bad, just when it goes a little to far it could get really weird.

I'm a masculinist. There are plenty of guys out there who would rather stay home and cook and clean rather than work. Liek me.

Bringing up the topic of feminism, people seem to mention masculism (or masculinsim; same thing). I would like to call myself this, but feel I can't. Mostly because there are two completely opposite definitions of it. One (and the one that unfortunately might come to many people's minds) is a reaction to feminism and supports traditional male gender roles. The version I would support is progressive masculism which builds on feminism to combat discrimination against men as well as women.
Due to these contrary definitions, I would prefer to refer to myself (ideally) as a gender egalitarian and support progression towards gender equality and possibly gender neutrality. At its core I see feminism having gender equality as its end and I would thus support it. I would only oppose extreme feminism if it was in opposition to this end.

But the question insinuates that they're both annoying. Yes, EXTREME feminists are annoying, but so is an extreme anything. If you think feminism is annoying, you either don't understand feminism, or you're an asshole. Period. Then I am an asshole. Am I an asshole because I respect women as much as I respect men, and value them? Am I an asshole because I find feminism un-necessary given (my) and other people's respect and value for women? Being anti-chauvinist does not mean I am a feminist and being anti-feminist does not mean I'm a a chauvinist, neither an asshole. The fact that I don't follow masses of female liberals who do not know what they want does not make me an asshole, thank you Chelsea. Neither should any man feel that he is.

The core belief of feminism is that women deserve the same rights as men. Different people go about achieving this in different ways, but if you say that you flat-out don't like the idea of feminism, then that is extremely asshole-ish. You don't ahve to "follow masses of female liberals" in order to support feminism. And just because YOU allegedly feel that you and people you know treat women equal to men, that doesn't mean that EVERYONE does. Sexism still exists, and feminism exists to combat it.

"Feminism refers to political, cultural, and economic movements aimed at establishing greater rights and legal protections for women." - Definition of feminism. Nothing to do with equality Chelsea. Feminist believe in greater rights for women, so even if women are equal to men, they will still fight for greater rights. Your assumptions and name calling are offensive to say the least.
