This is such an evil thing. Sites are free because of ads, if everyone uses ad blocker almost every website will have to charge for services.
I think that: 1. If you are on dial up 2. if you are charged per megabyte downloaded (like my mom is)
Then ad blocker is okay.
What do you think?
Don't say you don't click on the ads anyway because if it's something you're interested in you will. I've found a lot of online games, art websites and language learning websites through them. Of course when it's an ad for insurance or investment advice I ignore it. People say ads have no affect on them.. That's because most of the ads you see are targeted at a different demographic.. when it's your demographic it sure as feck has an effect on you. You're thinking of buying a new computer and you see an ad for Dell.. you pay attention! That's why the internet is free!

Yeah... I use ad block. Ads annoy me, especially on a youtube video or a ustream/blogtv. Now, here's the thing. When it comes to ads for games, I do not trust ads. Any online game that needs to be on some website just to get people, it either sucks, or is some money grabbing SHIRT. And for things like a computer, I research. I check sites like cnet for reviews. Again, I don't trust ads >.>

I've also seen ads for WoW and loads of other popular games. Of course you don't take everything they say at safe value, but how you gonna research something if you don't know what it's called? It affects you whether you admit it or not. I also see you failed to address the point that without ads we would have to pay for things like youtube, so if everyone did what you do there would be no youtube and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Ads do not affect me. I have never checked out something I saw in an ad, I have never clicked an ad. Before I used Adblock, I just ignored them.
Also, if everyone decided to kill someone, there would be no people left on Earth. Let's have a great time thinking of impossible 'what if' scenarios, shall we?

I've also seen ads for WoW and loads of other popular games. This is why I hate games like that -.- How would I not know what it's called? And also, this is where a human would come in. I could also ask someone who knows a lot on the subject about it :/ Yes, I avoided the question. I understand that things like that would be payed for. I understand what I'm doing is hurting sites like youtube. Well, too bad. I don't like ads, I'm gonna use ad block :/ EDIT: Also, if everyone decided to kill someone, there would be no people left on Earth. Let's have a great time thinking of impossible 'what if' scenarios, shall we? He's got a point

What the hell. Advertising is perfectly normal completely necessary.

The facebook of sex gets annoying after the first few times. You do realize that Facebook finds ads for you based on your cookies? *Snicker* I started using Adblock when ads started becoming intrusive to my browsing. IMO, Youtube ads are just as intrusive as pop up ads. When I have to click the X button on almost EVERY SINGLE video I watch, I get tired real quick. I think the idea of sponsorship is awesome, but it gets intrusive. At least my adblock doesn't effect their paycheck

I love ads. I rarely click them, but seeing them can be pretty interesting.
The only ads that do bother me are (as Zang mentioned), YouTube ads that play before a video and blogtv/ustream/etc. ads. If there was an adblocker just for those, I'd jump on it. <_<

I use Ad Block Plus with Firefox. I don't really remember what ads look like.

Nope, games should just be so good, they don't need advertising. That's a very naive thing to say. XD So so so many things throughout the years have been amazing, but failed because of lack of advertising/good marketing. TV shows, movies, products, games, people, etc. The list is endless. Besides, what you're trying to say should happen with games is actually advertising. You're expecting the game to be good enough that it's advertised by word-of-mouth, correct? Many games or sites have some sort of incentive to encourage that word-of-mouth advertising. While it can be effective if done correctly, it's putting your marketing in the hands of others, which just isn't the best choice. :P It can be difficult to understand how vital marketing is, I know. I used to think the amount of money corporations and products spend on advertising was ridiculous... it's actually quite necessary.

We're talking about the little ads on websites. I understand what you're saying, I'm not an idiot (most of the time).

That's why I don't like them though. If they need little ads on the side of some shitty website, then they fail as a game.

Coca Cola doesn't need to advertise. I don't care if their ads are supposed to make you thirsty.
