Are those website's for real? I only ask because anybody can make a website claiming all sorts of things, but what they're claiming aren't accurate.

I haven't read every post, but I'll join the debate
PETA is always something fresh on my mind. I raise rabbits for show (like dog shows although to don't run the around with a lead) I raise Jersey Woolies (dwarf angoras), which are a breed developed solely for pet and showing purposes. I also have a small part of my hobby set aside for meat rabbits. They are New Zealands that I use for dinner and local production.
Of course when raising rabbits, you are often producing several litters a year. The culls/non-picks are mostly sold to other breeders. PETA's idea that, "when you adopt from a breeder, you kill a shelter animal" is not true. Breeders usually only sell to other breeders. A breeder will not buy a shelter animal for showing purposes so the fact that the animal was euthanized was not the breeder's fault.
Another issue is slaughter. If you've seen the undercover investigations from high production companies, they are not true to what is actually done in most rabbit-meat production rabbitries. All rabbit production, especially if local, is done as carefully and as humanely as possible. Gentle hands are used and slaughter is quick. Respect is given to the animal most of the parts are used.
When buying meat. Always buy local. This ensure a trustworthy breeder did the right thing for the animal.
In short, PETA blows things way out of proportion to what is actually true.

PETA is very often really wacko. I mean, I'm all for animal rights, and I usually agree with at least the basic ideas of their programs, but all too often they reach the point of almost embarrassing silliness. I mean, Sea Kittens?

I despise PETA. Absolutely. I'm all for the ethical treatment of animals, but i'm not against eating meat and wearing leather or fur. The leather and fur industries are a little over the top, yes, but they are what our predecessors wore. I just think the monetary system should be abolished. Communism ftw.
