Yeah, I spell Theatre like I'm British (Deal with it...? Nah, I don't wear crocs.).
Is anyone involved with acting, or any of the sort? If so, post your funny stories of what happened when the set fell down in Willy Wonka or when someone said Sh*t in Cinon instead of Sit in Chinon. Or, you could post about that annoying guy in the front row who sat there crinkling a wrapper for the entire show. Or how about that time when a person in the audience ANSWERED THEIR PHONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SHOW?!?.... Oh, sorry. I got a little excited there. But yeah, post theatre stuff here.

Yea I love acting. Its one of my favorite things to do. funny story, once my whole sceen was forgetten because one person said a bad line. We had to impro the rest of the sceen. We took what we knew had to be acomplished in that sceen, and reworded it. The director was P.O. ed at first but then she decided that it acctually helped the play, and we did it the same way for the rest of the performances.

I am not an actor. In fact, I have not acted on the stage since about 2006. However! I do enjoy stage managing, and being on the technical crew for shows. I'm much more comfortable working behind the scenes.
And oh boy, do I have a funny story about someone's phone ringing during a show. It was at a bit of a blackbox theatre, and a local theatre conservatory was invited for a dress rehearsal, just before previews. The show? The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged. Someone's phone rang, and one of the actors hopped off the stage, went into the audience, and asked to speak to whomever had called the phone.
For that same show, one of the actors' pants fell down during a performance. The only two actors onstage were so distracted by this, they couldn't move on. So... I grabbed a safety pin, and walked onstage to fix the problem. The show went on.

heh heh the last proformance i went to see was a play called The woman in black it was sooo scary. i do drama (stage acting) as a gcse subject (i took it as one of my options) and i can say i dont regret it, we are nearing the end of our current toppic (TIE:Theatre In Education) where the class was split in 2 and asked to made a proformance for some kids, we found a school to go to proform and we are going soon, but first we are proforming to the lowest year of our school =] we decided to base the idea arround the famous Robbin Hood, and we weaved a message about bullying in it. i will post on here when we have proformed it =D

I don't act but I do perform in pit's for musicals. The theatre is awesome and musical and opera actors are surprisingly less diva'ish than would be expected.

I've been involved with theater in some form or another sence late 2001 and I have a whole wall full of posters from nearly every show I've ever worked.
Pluse I'm currently in rehersal for "Dial M for Murder" in which I am both crew and actor playing all of the cops at the end of the show.
As for funny stories of sets falling apart... don't have too many of thoughs except for the time one of our blacks got caught in a roll drop and was torn down before anyone noticed. Afterwards either no one noticed which I think is impossible not to or they were just being nice and pretending not the notice the most obvious mistake in my Theater exsperience.
As for annoying audience members... last year durring Dracula we had a drunk woman walk back stage who seemed to be under the impression that her ticket was a back stage pass. I had to convince her that her ticket was not a back stage pass in order to talk her back into her seat. Best acting exsperiance of my life and I wasn't even an actor for that show. I just had to act like I didn't want to tie a rope around her and tie her to her seat till the show was over. Or better yet kick her out of the theater, literally.

The first show I was in was Willy Wonka. I was Charlie Bucket and it was a great show. When Mr. Salt had to fall into the nut machine (are you thinking what I'm thinking? ) The set for the nut machine completely fell over and the audience saw Mr. Salt and Veruca just sitting there. It was pretty embarrassing. I was recently in another show called The Lion in Winter. In the front row, there was a guy who was just sitting there crinkling a wrapper. Now, this would have been fine if there was a stage. There was no stage. It was blackbox, and the stage consisted of a checkerboard floor that was about a 16th of an inch thick. It was in the only pretty funny scene where I had to act like a drunk. The crinkling was so loud, it got picked up by the microphones and was transmitted into the sound system. It was terrible!

I didn't even know there was a stage version of Willy Wonka. I can't even imagin how that would work in terms of the set changing for each room of the factory pluse the different places outside the factory. And by an odd coincidence back in late late 2002 early 2003 I saw Lion in the Winter in a black box theater. Two of my friends from school were in the show though one of them I didn't even know was in theater when I went to see it. I later found out he'd been in severals shows sence he was about 6 years old. Allso had a couple other exsperiences of meeting people I went to school with in the theater years after graduating but having never actully met them in school. Even weirder is that one of our sound ops who I've known for about 5 years I only just last week learned that we had a mutual friend in high school and neither one of us knew the other one knew her. (are you confused yet?)

I love theatre. I work backstage and building the sets, though I've been an actress before. I just finished up the last production for my years as a high school student. But the last night was amazingly epic. One of the freshmen started playing Seasons of Love from Rent... and everyone sung and formed a line like they did in the actual movie/musical. And I always have a dance party backstage. Always.

So the other day I ran down stairs to get into costume after my last scene shift not being sure how much time I had and ended up getting in place for my scene about 6 pages before I even needed to get in place.
Don't you love it when you find you have a little time to relax before a scene rather than rush out on stage right after getting dressed?

I was the Technical Director at my High School. I had a lot of fun doing it. So much so that I wanted to make a career out of it but then I decided on graphic design. I'd love to get back into it someday though.
And my favorite musical is Wicked. It's so awesome. I've only seen it once but I have the music and listen to it all the time.

Dial M for Murder is now offically open. Just had our first show not includeing preview audiances. Kinda pissed off though. I saw the program for the first time and I wasn't credited at all for this show. I was in "No Sex Please, We're Brittish" last year at the same theater and got credited for that. www.sierrarep.com/shows.html?20091002-FA&2000JAMES ROBBERT HERMES (Delivery Man 2) James is happy to be back on stage after five years of working back stage. James has enjoyed working back stage but loves acting even more and hopes this small role will lead to bigger and better things. āIād like to thank my dad for supporting me.ā Videos of James can be found online at www.youtube.com/rialvestroThere's an area in the front of the Theater where they hang head shots. I got up there, on the web site, and in the program for "No Sex". However "Dial M", my picture or name is not shown in any of the 3 normal locations. www.sierrarep.com/shows.html?20100326-FA&2000Pluse you'll notice on the "No Sex" cast listing, Cisco, the other delivery man, he got paid a SHIRT load more than I did for the same job. And he was the one that told me that I should of been getting paid more for that show. The most important thing for me is getting some stage time which right now is the only reason I'm even working this show. But I'm seriously questioning weather or not it's worth the SHIRT I'm going threw. Getting paid crew wages for an acting job and not being credited for my work.

I just saw my old high school's production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." It was all right. I could at least tell that the kids were having fun, even if it wasn't something I would consider "professional" theatre. The actresses who played Lucy and Sally were excellent, though. Not only did they [seem to] get the characters, but they both sang pretty well, too!
On the subject of favorite musicals... I'm not sure I have a favorite, although "Spamalot" is probably up there on the list, along with "The Producers."
My favorite play, though, is "Noises Off." Hands down. And I recommend to any theatre geek/nerd that they see a local production of this play. It is hilarious, and full of theatre-oriented jokes! I don't think I could ever get tired of watching this show.

My favorite play, though, is "Noises Off." Hands down. And I recommend to any theatre geek/nerd that they see a local production of this play. It is hilarious, and full of theatre-oriented jokes! I don't think I could ever get tired of watching this show. I would love to be in that show. The Stage Manager would be my first choice. The drunk my second (and unlike the last time I played a drunk, this time I actully know what it's like.) And the Director would be my third choice. So basically any of the 3 characters that end up playing as the thief. I can't really remember any of the other characters off the top of my head except for the guy who spends a good portion of the show with his pants around his ankles. The only part in the show I would not do for that verry reason. Allthough I supose it's not as bad as the poor woman who gets stuck in her underwear for the entire show. Allso I managed to find a high school production of Noises Off which ended up changeing the script so that she was in a night gown rather than underwear. Personally I would just rather not do the show than to change it like that because non of the jokes about her made any sense when she's completly covered. The costume she was first seen in was actully more reveling than the night gown she changed into, not that the clothes were that reveling. Just said it to give you an idea of how little the jokes work with the night gown and I'm not saying I think they should of let a teenage girl run around in her underwear just that the show does not work as a high school play. Allthough it is kind of a double standard that they seem to think it was OK for a teenage boy to run around in his underwear which to me allso seems inappropriate for a high school.
