There have been lots of interesting comments on Dan's new vlog video and I really think we will all have something to say about this also. The debate is mostly about calling creationists idiots. This is the video:

Here's someone's comments and my input on the video as a starter:
kittenswithketchup (45 minutes ago) 0 Reply | Spam we THOUGHT we had proven that the earth is millions of years old, but, in recent years, we have found modern-day items fossilized. these items were then Carbon-Dated and the tests say that it was thousands of years old. therefore, we have disproved the "fact" that the earth is millions or billions of years old, but i do think it is. (continued in next comment)
kittenswithketchup (44 minutes ago) 0 Reply | Spam (continuation) i am a devout Christian, but honestly believe that the bible has MANY metaphors to make it easier for (less intelligent)people to understand. and no, im not saying you arent as intelligent as me, but i know there ARE people out there who arent. i think the whole "7 days" thing is one of these metaphors. it wasnt actually 7 days, but that the "days" are segments of millions of years. i also believe we were created by God thru evolution. but evolution hasnt been proven either...
Nakedhominid (40 minutes ago) 0 Reply | Spam Sorry. Are you saying that because we have found fossils that are only thousands of years old, then the Earth cannot be 4.5 billlion years old? Because if you are that makes no sense. That is the same as saying your car cannot be 5 years old because it has a copy of last weeks newspaper in it.
Evolution HAS been proven, it is a fact. There is no dispute, at least none of any consequence in the scientific community.
Intothemoooon (27 minutes ago) 0 Reply | Remove @kittenswithketchup yes, it has been proven. do you read science? evolution has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt over and over and over and over and over and over etc. some crackpot scientists that try in vain to bend the data to their own beliefs may tell you otherwise. if you believe them, i believe you are a fool.
Intothemoooon (27 minutes ago) 0 Reply | Remove your previous statement doesn't make much sense, but all i have to say to that is, scientists know that carbon dating isn't perfect. that's why hypothesis are only accepted as fact if they are tested many thousands of times by different people in DIFFERENT WAYS. Carbon dating isn't the proof for evolution. The proof is all around us.
Intothemoooon (26 minutes ago) 0 Reply | Remove Read a lot of science papers, and you'll see that almost ALL scientist believe in evolution and those that don't haven't properly backed up their data with multiple experiments and observations. it takes a whole lot more than ONE set of carbon dating data to disprove a theory. you need as much or more data disproving the theory than there is proving the theory before you can say the theory is wrong. this is because, as i said, science makes mistakes sometimes.
kazooga1234 (11 minutes ago) +1 Reply | Spam accually any scientist that doenst believe in evolution has prob been paid off to say that it doesnt exist either by a republican so they can make their point caz there r also some doctors that r paid off by the tabaco company and they say that cigs dont cause cancer but they r the only ones that will say that caz they r paid off its not caz of data its caz of money
Intothemoooon (25 minutes ago) 0 Reply | Remove i think you really shouldn't be making claims and basing your beliefs on things you don't understand, but I guess that's your prerogative.
Intothemoooon (8 minutes ago) 0 Reply | Remove oh and I just wanted to say, I'm sorry for calling you a fool just then. I get kinda up in arms, I know. you don't deserve to be called names just because you've been given what i would say is faulty information or you chose to believe in what i would say is faulty information. my previous comment sums up my belief about what you said i think.

I dont think dan was saying those who believe in it(such as myself) are idiots, because his mom most likely does believe in creationism. I think he meerly said it because of lack for a better term. He has said time and again that he respects others beliefs. I think he meant it is idotic to go against the facts when they are right there.

I actually agree, it's not like Dan to purposely put people down. I'm sure he didn't mean it that way.

He was establishing common ground with his adversary... no one should knock him for that.

From Dan's vid: "And in that debate, I mean, there's no question, creationists are complete and total idiots. I agree."
Pretty sure he means that he thinks people who believe the world is 6000 years old are idiots; those are the exact words he used, and he even said "there's no question."
And it's not like knocking someone for religion at all -- believing that the extraordinary amount of science that all points to things having existed LONG before 4000BC is all fake can hardly be considered a wise or knowledgeable viewpoint.
Anyway, my point is that he's allowed to think some people are idiots. At the very least, in regards to whatever point he considers them idiots due to. If anyone is going to cover for him and retract that statement it should be him, and I think I'd be a little disappointed if he caved on that point, myself.

I think Dan simply forgot that ^ word, if you've watched thunderf00t's video's you'll know what I'm talking about, the people he chooses to quote in his anti-creationist videos are just...wow....
I think Dan was talking about those people specifically and not about the general group of creationists

I'm not really sure what there is to debate. Creationists ARE idiots. It is a fact that the earth is 4.6 billion years old, multicellular life is 550 million years old, and humans have been around for less than 1 million years. Anyone who believes that the earth was created in its present form 6,000 years ago is mindnumbingly stupid.
As for Dan's comments on Thunderfoot's video, I went back and watched Thunderfoot's video again...and I don't see anywhere he criticized Dan's family or his parenting. Granted, Thunderfoot's video came across as more abusive than it needed to be, but he does make a lot of valid points. I don't think he was overly personal in his criticisms; he mostly stuck to addressing Dan's arguments, albeit sometimes in a nasty way.

There's not much to debate here, yeah. I have no sympathy for any young-earth creationists who might have been offended by Dan's video in the same way that I wouldn't feel bad if he called Holocaust Deniers or Whackjob Conspiracy Theorists idiots. Their claims are ridiculous and stand boldly in opposition to hard facts.

Sometimes, people Just Don't know any better, whether it be a lack of education or over-enthusiastic creationist parents. Some people may have been taught creationism as the absolute truth, and a blanket statement to call EVERY-ONE who believes in this an Idiot, I disagree with. HOWEVER I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Dan Brown is by no means a perfect person, you can't always be PC or nice.

Dan explains it in his new vlog and i agree with him. Some people I know in real life are idoits, basically shunning science. I believe that we were created by God, but we werent created like this, we EVOLVED! I think the debate comes in what you define as "Creationists" I have always thought of it as believeing in God creating us, but the accutal term means someone who thinks that we were created EXACTLY like this. and if they do, they do deserve the title of idiot.
just my 42 cents.

Just so. If it was unclear what I said before, when I refer to creationists, I refer to the people who think we were created in the forms we are currently in -- the people who deny the existence of evolution, how life first formed on Earth, and all that other fun stuff. If you want to argue that God set all that in motion, fine; I respectfully disagree, but that's your opinion. If you think evolution is a big fat lie and science is something that must be thwarted to defend your religion... you are an idiot. PunchJunky: I would agree to a point. While they don't know better, it's not their fault. Then when the truth is shown to them, along with heaps and heaps of evidence, and they treat it like some kind of attack and deny it all... at that point, it's their own decision to ignore what's being presented to them. Just my 1.9488¢ (at the current exchange rate).
