Hmm he makes a good point St. Paul calls living like this "cheap grace" and warns against it. Living in sin but relying on Christ's salvation and just saying my salvation is already won I can sin sin sin and just repent it all away.

"Be in the world but not of it" is the opposite of my worldview. I'd much rather be of the world and in it. That's the only way people can change things.

The only way to change the world is to be of influence to a community in some way or another. You don't have to be of the world to have an impact. Gandhi was very unworldly, and he had a DRASTIC impact.

The real goal shouldn't be avoiding being of the world, it should be changing what "of the world" means. That can't be achieved by excluding a group of people who are "not of the world" and staying away from them and their practices.
Or maybe you and I are defining "of the world" differently.

I don't think any of those are the idea jeb's referring to, seeing as I can't find any good reason to not be any of them.

While that video does make me want to be a better person, and I will try to be, the God I believe in is merciful and kind, and the Jesus Christ I believe in cared for us and died willingly for our sins. I believe that as long as we are good people that God will forgive us and that we will go to Heaven.
Sure, the video scared me a little, but I'll have to politely disagree with a few of his points. I don't think that God would let His children, especially basically good people, endure everlasting suffering. I think that He wants us to be happy, with Him, forever. I think that He knows that we aren't perfect and that we can't always reject sin. Sometimes we're tempted by Satan and we give in. But He knows that we aren't perfect. He gave us free will so that we can make our own decisions, and He gave us a conscience so we know when he sin. So we can become better people.
I believe that we will go to Heaven as long as we are good people. It's okay if we give into temptation every once in a while because God will forgive us, especially if we ask Him for it and apologize.
I understand where this person is coming from, though. What he's trying to do is good, and if that's what he believes, then that's (genuinely) good for him.
