I would just like to voice my opinions on the stupidity of war. I don't want to pigeon hole but Americans in general are more pro war in general, especially during the cold war with the whole reds under the beds thing.
My granddad fought in WWII he didn't die in the war but did before i was born. I have recently learned that for a whole year after the war ended he was in hospital with shell shock, another year without seeing his fiancée. He never fully recovered and i think this lead to the stroke he had.
If democracy is so great why do we have to kill people and force it down there throats.

I'm sorry, but the main point is that defense is warranted, whereas situations like the Iraq war are not.

I'm sorry, but if US supported your ideology we would all be speaking german right now.... No we wouldn't, Hitler never had a chance at taking over Europe, the Soviet Union could have destroyed them on their own. (That was redundant) And world war two isn't what I would call a world war. I believe war in justified if it's in defense of your nation or another (just in case someone misunderstood me I know that WW2 was in self defense for America) Luckily we'll have robots for war in the future. Hopefully they'll fight on the moon or something cool. I doubt it though. I think war would be way more awesome if we threw away all of our big bombs and just started using robots to fight other robots on the moon. If only if only.

I would like to see, in my lifetime, a world whose governments are all sane enough to realize that war is rarely ever necessary. A lot of governments are sane now, but at this point, defense against governments who aren't quite as sane is still a legitimate cause for warfare.

If democracy is so great why do we have to kill people and force it down there throats. ^Their. I think your confusion is based on a lack of understanding. The United States are not pro-war, we are pro-Capitalism. As it stands now, war is good business, and there's lots of money to go around because of it. As for the bit about forcing democracy down people's throats, it's a two-pronged answer. First is the optimist response: Sometimes people want a democratic government but are being oppressed. Look at the people of Iran in the wake of last year's elections. They clearly hate their government, but they can't effect change by themselves because they'll be gunned down in the streets. Second is the pessimistic answer: We don't give a damn about spreading democracy. We want oil, and we want friendly foreign governments in place to deal with us. The democracy gag is just a pretext.

War is not the answer to anything, it is the stupid, harsh method many have created which to them will cause a 'solution.' When a country invades another, as they come without invitation, as them storm their way through with weapons, with the power to harm anybody in their way, what is the other country to do? They live in constant fear, these invaders have come and taken away their security, their sense of well being and in it's place have installed fear and insecurity. These innocent people live with knowing that with one wrong step, they could die. That with one wrong word they could die. Worse, they know that without them doing anything at all, they could die.
It's not just those civilians but also those who fight in war. I once heard a man speak about his experiences of when he fought in the Vietnam War. As he spoke, he talked about the harshness of the environment, the people who had no say but were placed in this harsh environment, about how he still to this day cannot sleep peacefully at night because of these experiences. The reason he only talked about the harshness was because there is no happy or joyful part of war. There's no joy in seeing the faces of those innocent people who look at those soldiers on either side and still don't know who to trust. War is not a way to be bringing up children, who will in turn live their life as with the soldiers full of horrific nightmares and the blaring sound of bomb blasts a constant reminder of what happened when one country either decided to invade another or when two countries decided to settle an issue involving the mass killing of so many innocent lives and in turn mentally and physically harm those soldiers who participate in the war.

Anybody who says that war never solves anything would do well to open a history book. It's what mankind does best, and it's one of the most efficient solutions to a problem, to shut up whoever is creating the problem. Does that mean it's ethical? Absolutely not. Does that mean I support war? Absolutely not. But don't try to deny its efficacy just because of moral concerns. No we wouldn't, Hitler never had a chance at taking over Europe, the Soviet Union could have destroyed them on their own. (That was redundant)
In short: No. England needed us. Operation Overlord would have never gone down without us. Rommel would have dominated Africa without us. Southeast Asia would have fallen without us. London would have fallen without us. It's important to remember that World War 2 was a multiple front war. There were the Western Theatre, the Eastern Theatre, the African Theatre, and the Pacific Theatre. The USSR really only had a lock on the Eastern Theatre. The US helped to tip the balance in the rest. The point is, self-defense is not the only reason for war. Defense of liberty is a perfect reason for war. Liberation is a FANTASTIC reason for war. Did we go into Iraq under false pretenses? Of course. But I'm still glad we did. I'm actually rather pissed that we don't have more troops dedicated to places like Sudan, where ABSURD injustices are occurring, and have been for decades. I would like to be able to say that there are always better solutions than war, but I'm not ignorant enough to be able to believe it. Some people CANNOT be reasoned with, some people don't care what you feel or want, they will do what they want regardless, and for those people, the only way to stop them is to force them to stop.

I believe that humans need 1 last big war before we are ready. If you understand, great. If you don't - don't ask.
War sucks, but to maintain balance and stability, it is one of many necessary evils.

No one in the right mind likes war. neither side want death, and could eaisly talk about. Those types of war slcould and should be avoided. But hitler wasn't in the right mind. He dropped out of the league of nations and such. Some people just want to watch the world burn. And because of them, there is war.

The US helped to tip the balance in the rest. Hate to tell you this man but UK won the battle of Britain and without air superiority the Germans never would have been able to invade. The second battle of El Alamein or the decisive battle of the North Africa theater was fought and won by commonwealth countries. The USSR was winning and had advanced hundreds of kilometers on D-day. If the U.S. hadn't intervened France and Germany probably would have been communist But I will give you that the U.S. was essential to say the least in the Pacific theater.

Regarding the whole 'you'd be speaking german' thing. I think that is a stupid argument as the whole reason they didn't beat us was the spitfire and the BRITISH invention of radar.
I think that war should never be justified and we need to end the war.

I think that war should never be justified and we need to end the war. People are confusing the fact that we COULDN'T have won without the British with the untrue fact that we COULD have won without the US. Both were integral parts of the war. Also, war is sometimes justified, and war will never end. The sooner you come to those realizations, the better.

In one of Dan's videos, he was replying to some response videos, and he said that it was amazing that we were resolving conflict in such a peaceful way over the internet. Even though the people had differing views, they were able to express it in a peaceful way. They worked it out, stated their opinions, and all without even meeting in person.
Imagine if major leaders could resolve conflict in this way. Without any violence, working it out, even using the internet! The internet is an amazing new tool that we can use to our advantage, to create world peace. It's a major goal, but it's possible.
So I think that war is awful. It's just horrible. But I do think that there's something to be said for the military. The people who fight for their countries are very brave. I think that there's nothing wrong with fighting back if another country attacks, just to prevent the citizens of that country from being hurt. But if conflict can just be avoided in the first place... That's the ideal situation.

Also, war is sometimes justified, and war will never end. The sooner you come to those realizations, the better. I think it's true that war is sometimes justified, e.g. for defense and when there is irrefutable evidence of genocide. But I also believe that sometime in the far future, won't be in our lifetimes, society will be advanced enough for war to be obsolete.
