There really isn't a debate here. Harry Potter blows twilight out of the water any day of the week. I've read both, and I did enjoy twilight, but the the two series should not even be compared.

OMFG! Who even thought to make this thread?! You cannot compare Harry Potter to fucking Twilight! That is an insult to J.K. Rowling and whoever started this thread should be burned at the stake! Fuck Twilight! (I'm sorry for cursing but this makes me so angry.)

They shouldn't be compared, they aren't the same type of story. You wouldn't compare The Da Vinci Code to Stephen King's It would you? But yeah, they do get compared a lot and there's honestly no competition. I'm not going to say that "Twilight sucks! I hate Robert Pattinson!" or what not, but I will say that Harry Potter is a world better. Before I start, I'll state that my validity on the two is complete bigotry, but I can go by what I hear from honest reviews and opinions. The Harry Potter series is themed upon a knowledge-progressing storyline. Don't believe me? Read them in numerical order. The writings get more difficult to read as they go along (and not just by length). I believe Rowling did this to help us invision growing up with the characters; as they got smarter in the books, we start to see it. The books have the specific theme of good vs. evil and love. Which create some great high tension moments, especially from the fifth to seventh boks. The Twilight Series on the other hand, seems only set on a forbidden love. It's like Edward doesn't love Bella, Bella loves Edward, Edward loves Bella now, they can't be together, they can be together, Ella "likes" Jacob, Edward likes Bella, Jacob loves Bella, Edward hates Bella, Bella wants Edward, Cedric Diggory likes portkeys, etc. It's not a very twisting storyline (from what I hear) and is about as exciting and high-tension as it looks. Not hating on Twilight, it's a huge money maker and the books seem far more successful than the movies, but Harry Potter IS better.
