Sean, this thread may be offensive to others. Have you considered this?

How do you explain nature? During the big bang all of the matter just happened to form into trees, water, air, earth? Yes mathematically there has to be many places in the universe that supports life, but how many have life on them? Animals, with so many unique abilities. Humans, with so much, and thier brain, which is an amazing thing in of itself. There's my proof that god exists.

In my opinion, something wouldn't spontaneously explode and create life and a perfect environment for it to survive in. Plus, there's something called faith.
(Not trying to offend anybody)

In short "GOD CAN'T EXIST. PROVE ME WRONG."
You can't prove or disprove God.

But you can, however, consistently push back the boundaries of the "God of the gaps" until it is nothing more than a philosophical whisper.

If there were proof, it would destroy the purpose of God's own existence.

Alex that makes no sense...
So the purpose of God is to have us believe in something we can't prove? In that case before he created humans he had no purpose, I suppose...

The problem I have with "God" is that people see him/her/it as any other human and usually limit him/her/it to our limits.. "If there were proof, it would destroy the purpose of God's own existence." ^ makes sense for me but it's only true if you believe that God was created by humans because they needed a reason to explain things that they couldn't explain.. if you believe otherwise then it doesn't make as much sense as ^

If there were proof, it would destroy the purpose of God's own existence. no...it would destroy your reason for existence...IE free will among other things... and what alex said.

More specifically, it would destroy faith. Plus, whose version God would it be? The Mormons? The Muslims? What if it's the Evangelical Anabaptist Christian's version of God? What if they're the only right ones and everyone else is wrong?

this, sir, in your words, is a load of bull crap.
I don't know where you've been, but the Pogotribe debate forum is usually entirely civil and rational. As far as religion goes, the atheists and antitheists of the Pogotribe strive for calm, logical debating without flaming or belittling. And we do a pretty good job of it. And then you come in with your LOL GUYS GOD IS A LIE TRY AND PROVE ME WRONG!! spiel and think it's a superior method of debating? Or that it's never been done before? Come on now, man.
We've been over the topic of religion time and time again. A perfectly calm, rational, logical debate about the existence of God rarely ever ends up changing anyone's opinions.

All religion-vs.-atheism topics are beating a dead horse. It's a debate forum, though, so you just kind of have to get used to it.

I mean, looking at the threads going now, even discussions about aliens and abortions can end up being God vs. no God discussions.
To be fair, it is one of humanity's biggest questions and it is a question that a lot of smaller questions ultimately lead to, it just isn't one that's ever going to be accepted one way or the other by everyone.
