Well, since 99.9% of Americans are uninformed in some way, I'd say we just stop caring about politics. Just kidding.
But there's no way to battle things like this. My parents call him a Muslim because they don't like him. I doubt that one if five people actually think that.

As long as it doesn't interfere with his job, 100% of people shouldn't care what religion he is.
I honestly would not mind if he was Muslim, Christian, or Tibetan Buddhist. Besides, all religions are so vague that it doesn't really matter what they say, since their teachings can always be interpreted in both good and evil ways.

The problem here is that people are too stupid to realize that we're at war with a small terrorist group not the country of Iraq and not Muslims. And Obama is planing on building what is basically a church for Muslims (I forget what it's actually called) on the site where the twin towers use to be.
First off, people really need to be educated more to know that we are not at war with Iraq and we are not at war with Muslims.
Secondly, Obama is building this "church" for Muslims in the name of religious freedom. While I agree that Muslims should be allowed the same religious freedoms as everyone else in this country I do not agree with the location he intends to build this. The only thing that should be built on that site is a memorial to all the people who were killed in 9/11 attack.

rialvestro the mosque is not being built on ground zero, but somewhat around that area.
Obama is not the one who decided to build it, and the plans of making it were decided upon well before the attacks.
but you are right the U.S. is not in war with Iraq or Muslims but with the small terrorist group.

1 in 5 Americans must watch Fox News: I'm of the opinion that he's an agnostic-deist Christian, a la Thomas Jefferson, by which I mean someone who probably doesn't actually believe in the Bible, but practices religion ritualistically and would rather not be called an atheist. The only evidence I have of this claim is that his discussion of religions is far too unbiased, universalist, and sophisticated for me to think him a Christian, Jew, Muslim, etc., in the traditional sense of the word. Wait what? The news article I read said it was being built on ground Zero. If it's not then people are just idiots. It's not a mosque at ground zero, but a community center 2 blocks away from ground zero in a former burlington coat factory that was hit by debris from the towers collapsing.

Fox news gets me angry almost every time i watch it... Its really sad how they always try to push people to their side, vending the truth, while having a slogan of "fair and valanced". :/

It's not a mosque, I think it's a muslim culture youth center kinda like a muslim version of YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association). And it's two blocks from ground zero

While it shouldn't matter if the President is a Muslim, it kind of does. I'd like to say I'm completely without prejudice, but thats just not true. Almost no one is, and those who claim they are are lying to themselves or haven't met enough people from enough diverse backgrounds. Because inevitably, you're going to find a type of person who will rub you the wrong way no matter what. its just human nature, but theres no need to make those people's lives harder just because of it.
Mine doesn't even stem from 9/11, it stems from the fact that the human rights situation in almost every Islam-dominated country is utter shyte. To date, there are still female US citizens trapped in Saudi Arabia, one of our supposed allies, with no legal rights and no way of leaving the country. All because they married an Islamic man who was really far less liberal than he appeared to be in the States. The "Not without my daughter" situations still occur and it makes me sick to my stomach.
I'm not in any way advocating deportation of Muslims or limiting immigration even further for them, but I can't help but be concerned about a massive upswing in Islamic voters in the coming generations. Everyone seems to think that the Constitution is completely unchangeable and infallible, but all it would take is enough public support to get a "Sharia Law Overrides all Secular Law" amendment onto the US Constitution and we're there with Saudi.
Is that future situation a very long shot and have very slim chances of ever happening? Yes. Without a doubt. Sadly, theres no easy way out of this debate. The media makes it seem like either the US has to declare at some point that being a fundamental Muslim is in conflict with our core ideals or we need to flesh out another solution to maintain ideological status quo within the country.
