My parents are; it happened when I was a baby so I feel none of the pain.
I think it is a bad thing that some people are forced to live w/.

Yes and if the parents aren't able to get along and the kids are like the parent without custody then that's going to be one dysfunctional family... like mine :/

There should be a 3rd option for "I wish". For people who have divorced parents, just remember, the divorce was not your fault. That is between your mother and father not you. In the case of custody arrangements, that's where divorce gets messy. Unless one parent is abusive of the child or otherwise can not support the child custody should not even be an issue. There are joint custody options. Weather or not custody is or isn't an issue, assuming the child is old enough to speak the courts should let them speak but they don't. I know they don't because I know 7 children (6 girls and 1 boy) who were living with an abusive father despite and felt the need to carrey knifes on them at all times for protection from him. One of the girls even ran away from home, her own choice, to go live with her mother and the mother got arrested for kidnapping. 4 of the girls turned 18 while their mother was still trying to get custody of the younger children. 2 of them were already over 18 when I met them. Shortly after the 4th girl turned 18 and got out of the house their mother finally got custody of the 3 youngest kids. Apparently it takes 4 girls each suffering 18 years of abuse before anyone will listen to them. Unless the child has no means of communication the court should automatically grant custody to whoever the child chooses to live with. It's just stupid that so many people have to get hurt so much before the law does anything about it. Anyway... that being said, I wish my parents were divorced so I could of just lived with my dad. My mom has a record of child abuse and no job so my dad would of got custody easy. Sadly their still together. I think my dad could do better with someone else and I'd really like her out of my life forever. However I don't really have any say in my dad's life and I'm 24, she doesn't have any major effect my life anymore. It's more an minor annoyance now than anything else.

They say 50% of marriages end in divorce. And the other 50% end in death. Technically speaking, 100% end in death. Actually, I see that the couples who are divorced for a reason other than abuse or some other major thing have not made the right decision. Giving up on somebody just because you love somebody else, your spouse has cheated on you, or just because you are sick of each other does not make sense because these three can be worked out. If abuse is happening, then by all means I supprot divorce.

My parents are happily married, but my mum's parents got a divorce when she was a kid. She actually experienced it at a relief, because they used to fight a lot, but coorporated through the entire divorce process. Also, they lived quite close to each other for most of her childhood.
