This is where YOU come in! Right now i am looking for ppl to code the webpage and stuff to make this sight work on ALL mobile phones! By doing this, I hope to increace tribe population and activitty, hopefully not all D3.0 related... If you think you are up for the task, post bellow Also, to keep this thread going, be sure to post status picks so everryone can see how it is coming allong.

what are you coding it in, wxml? He is not coding it as he has no way of accessing the database so as to render the content and because proboards still doesn't allow templates to have 100% customized HTML. I also think that making the mobile site in HTML+CSS, but with the carefulness of going "light" (avoiding tag soup, avoiding overly complicated CSS) is the ideal option. If someone wants, I can design a mock-up of how the site could look. But, it would only be a mock-up, because while proboards doesn't allow 100% customized HTML or access to an RSS feed/some sort of API, it is practically impossible (at least for me).

This would be entirely on the end of the administrators and could be a pretty heavy job if they're not huge on PHP and CSS coding. First, an alternate CSS template for mobile would have to be written. Which would be a big job. Not too difficult, but definitely time consuming. The tough part would be commenting into the PHP to actually activate the sucker.
It would be nice, but chances are it would be more worthwhile just to wait until the next big upgrade on the forum template when the iphone/mobile compatible template would be built in anyways.

alternatively we could just lobby proboards to add a service where the phone versions of forums are automatically generated and made available to the admins.

Here is an HTML mockup of the site, and a screenshot of it working on Opera Mobile (emulator for Linux...). The HTML files and CSS will come attached to this post. Screenshot:Have in mind the HTML and CSS are in raw form. It is just an example of how a mobile optimized site could be done. I didn't even include a distinction between mobile and non-mobile, nor optimize it to reduce bandwidth. It is just an example of how a good mobile site could be achieved if proboards/the CMS we could end up using had tools for that. Attachments:

if you want, you can download the attachment and try it in your own browser. it will work in any browser (theoretically). But I recommend trying mobile browser emulators, especially the iPhone emulator, because although I had a chance of testing in an equivalent browser, I did not have a chance of testing it in the iPhone browser.

This is an iPad running Safari, and PogoTribe. While it's pretty good, I've spent the last 4 hours doing something more than that. Something I don't really have to zoom into to see, and press. This is Touch SPOTM: OK, so other than the bar, and new logo, and improved announcements square, what's different? Well, nothing really. BUT I'M WORKING ON THAT. I'm going to make it more accessible to larger fingers.. Only the community forum, and a bit of the discussion forum will be in Touch SPOTM 1.0 (This is Build 1, not the official one..) Also, I'm going to make Touch SPOTM 1.0 actually.. er.. work. That is an html based website, but none of the links actually link anywhere. Also, I opened that in Mail, so I'm not sure whether Safari likes it or not. But wait... Why Touch SPOTM, not iPad SPOTM? Well, iPad is trademarked first of all, but second, it works on another device, (at least, dunno about Android.) Yep. That's an iPhone (4), and I'm really proud about the next picture (I'm a nerd.) It supports up to 326 ppi! The logo, everything.. I love that.. As an ending note, Mac Safari doesn't like it.. Not sure if iPhone Safari does.. I need to put it as a Google doc to test it.. Meh.. If anyone wants to test it on another OS, that would be great..

iPhone browser is great, doesn't need an mobile site.. My semi-working HTML mockup is designed for small screens and touch devices, so it is easy to see and use on, for example, the iPhone browser without having to zoom in. I agree the iPhone browser is great (it is based off of a fully working webkit), but a mobile site shouldn't only be optimized for crappy mobile browsers as well as awesome mobile browsers as Mobile Safari, the android browser, Opera Mobile and Fennec working on small screens. My mockup uses linear html, with all the necessary information on the screen, excluding the less necessary stuff. When using an awesome mobile browser, all info is displayed neatly so it is perfectly readable and what matters - the content - is shown to the user. On crappy ancient mobile browsers, theoretically it wouldn't look as good, but would still provide all information in a readable way. btw, if someone wants to take my mockup and change it, feel free to do so. I don't mind you to change it as long as you say I started the initial design you changed. EDIT: Could you also put your Touch SPoTM files online?

Yeah, I'm going to be updating it a lot, so I guess I'll just keep uploading it... I feel like we're going to do a hybrid between the two.. (BTW, no one needs chat, I've decided to just not include it.. And also, it's not functioning, but that will change soon.. I'm not looking for functionality at this point, just for design at this point.. So, I tested it in a Google Doc, and for some reason, they like it, yet mobile safari doesn't, so I'll have to review the code today..) Attachments:

Hey, everyone! I've just (tried to) make a patch for RadicallyBlue's site, and well.. Take a look.
<script type="text/javascript"> function topbar(){ if((navigator.userAgent.match(/iPhone/i)) || (navigator.userAgent.match(/iPod/i)){ document.getElementById('topbar').style.top = (window.pageYOffset + window.innerHeight - 320) + 'px'; }; } </script> </head> <body> <div name="topbar" id="topbar" class="topbar"> <h1 id="head"><a href="index.html" rel="home">South Pole of The Moon</a></h1> <ul id="nav"> <li><a href="#">Profile</a></li> <li><a href="#">Search</a></li> <li><a href="#">Members</a></li> <li><a href="#">Chat</a></li> <li><a href="#">Logout</a></li> </ul> <p id="pm"><a href="#">0 Messages</a> | <a href="#">Inbox</a></p> </div>
Basically, that would make the bar at the top move with you, so it would basically just follow you around the page. So, since mobile browsers don't like CSS' Position Fixed, I thought I would make my own in JavaScript. I started off for iPhones and (iPod Touches,) because that's the only device I had (I was going to do iPads, but I got caught up in the iPhone development..) Unfortunately, it hasn't worked. I looked at Google's source code, which has GMail's bar do the same in mobile, but like Google's search engine, it's IMPOSSIBLE to read. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm gonna take a look at it. I'm not an expert in web development (let alone mobile web development), but let's see what happens!
