Gear? I'm sorry - Canned food and ammo is all you need to survive a zombie apocalypse, that and good wit. If you run fast, and are subtle enough, you hardly need to carry more than a few clips at a time to survive. In order to survive to the end, you just need to outlast the zombies in food supply, which travelling from grocery store to grocery store should suffice - there's enough canned goods in the US to feed the world 100 times over, and let's face it - zombies aren't gonna open the cans. Once their food source runs out they die. Not even a knife or a can-opener? No space-blanket? No canteen? No armor? No oil or screwdrivers to service your gun? No maps? No fishing line or hook? How many people do you think already scavved every grocer within a thirty-mile radius? Of course everyone's gonna go for a gun, but it's foolish to not have one, if you rely on a quarterstaff then you'll quickly find that you'll have wished you killed those 30 zombies while they were 20 yards away rather then when they're 10 feet from you. Like I said, if I managed to get one with ammo I'd use it sparingly, probably only in small spaces or when getting ambushed somehow (how are thirty zombies going to surprise anyone?). I still say it's foolish to rely on a weapon that can jam or run out of ammo, especially if I have no training with it. I mean, I'd probably use a bow before a gun, I know how to use it, have practiced with it, and can probably make more ammo with a bit of practice.

I agree on the ammo, and as for the ambush, what is ur in a building, they're above u, and the cieling falls?

if the US fell to zombies or lets say the whole or north america and parts of south america we still have an entire other half of the world with the biggest natural barrier on earth... the ocean.. if zombies did try to walk along the bottom they would be fish food very quickly..
the fact of the matter is unless zombie out breaks where starting on every single continent at the same time humanity would survive with out a doubt... heck we would drop bombs on infected areas and if it came to it we as a nation would nuke a town city or even half the continental US if it meant stoping a spread of the walking dead..
so its not survival we are looking for its getting the hell out of dodge as quick as you can if the SHIRT hits the fan.. because if we know anything its that bombs will drop if things go bad.. so yeah get a car drive to the other coast or some other country or border or something cause if you stick around an effected area long enough you will be blown to peices..

Well, zombies are "dead" so they can't drown. They could walk under the water, float across, or maybe stumble onto a boat.

Also they move towards sound and where it smells like food, I don't think they would be smart enough to think "If I swim (or float) across this ocean I'll get food" So I'm thinking Island survival (as long as you keep checking for zombie infected ships on the horizon, and if there was no airport on the island before infection) you should be ok :]

If they don't hear or see or smell anything, they mindlessly wander till they find food. So one falls in the water, and goes to a third-world country like the Republic of the Congo, and they don't know how to deal with the infection.

I would think sharks or seagulls or something would eat it before it could float/sea-walk their way across the ocean. Also, they might be sheltered (dunno how far zombie movies travel), but not stupid. If they see a mindless monster humanoid thing trying to bite their faces, they're going to kill it and burn it.

I agree on the ammo, and as for the ambush, what is ur in a building, they're above u, and the cieling falls? Why would the ceiling fall in? This is still in the first couple years, if that long. It'll take a bit longer than that for most buildings to fall in disrepair, and I'm sure I'll be able to tell a derelict building from one that's still sound. Also, zombies are lazy, why would they walk upstairs? In high enough quantity to destroy floors?

Animals can detect the virus Solanum, which creates zombies, abiut a 1/4 mile away, and they are smart enough to flee. And third-world countries are often surrounded by forest, so anyone who goes to kill the zombie might not be able to seee it and head-shot it fast enough.

The virus takes a while to take over the brain, and bitten people might run home. Then more LIVE people would get bitten, and the floor only has to have one week spot, and one morbidly obese person on that weak spot, to collapse.

Then more LIVE people would get bitten, and the floor only has to have one week spot, and one morbidly obese person on that weak spot, to collapse. MANY problems with that. 1. The zombies aren't going to calmly stand in one place after they turn. They are going to wander toward food, DOWNSTAIRS. 2. If it's morbidly obese I'm not going to need to worry much about it. It can barely stand, probably. 3. Floors don't have one weak spot in the middle of the room. We figured falling through those might be a nuisance, so we found better ways to build multi-floor buildings. You're putting too many what-ifs and over complicating the situation. The only way zombies would fall through the floor is if a) the building was at least 20-30 years old, b) these zombies were somehow/why being prevented from leaving the upper floor, and c) the zombies combined weight was at least something like 40 ppsi.

Zombies don't care if they are eating brains or feet, they want food. They don't even care if its human.
