Speaking of which, Visa and MasterCard cut off donations to wikileaks, but not the KKK.. Wikileaks has much more power. Wikileaks got kicked for "promoting illegal activities". The KKK doesn't do that! lol..

People seem to be siding unanimously with WikiLeaks as the more influential website, but WikiLeaks is in some ways a branch of Anonymous, which is, in my opinion, best described as a bunch of 12-30 year old computer geniuses on 4chan defending free speech. Anonymous was very quick to defend WikiLeaks using DDoS attacks against credit card companies after donations to WikiLeaks were frozen. WikiLeaks is being mirrored all over the internet. This really is an important thing and Anonymous is very much involved in the technical aspects of it. Both are very different sites, but both are essential.

Anonymous: Weren't so much part of the "Huge Hack Day" headlines. WikiLeaks: Somehow involved
Wikileaks = More Influential [/thread]

Anonymous: WILL find something about you that can get you arrested (if such evidence exists in the first place - obviously) if you do something they don't like (such as abusing animals) Wikileaks: If somebody (usually *gasp* anonymous) gives them information - they post it.
If Wikileaks can directly influence authorities to arrest CEOs - well, that'd be damn impressive, and proof that they are the most influential. But as it stands - Wikileaks is just a branch of Anonymous.

Actually, the only news show I ever heard about anonymous on was Colbert.

The thing is that everyone knows wikileaks, but no one has ever heard of anonymous, except for the people that actually get out of Facebook every once in a while. (PEOPLE! THERE IS MORE TO THE INTERNET BESIDES FACEBOOK! [/rant]
I classify it like this: Wikileaks is supported by Anonymous, but they're not the same. Anonymous gives intel to Wikileaks along with other people. Ta-da.

This topic is stupid. 4chan and WikiLeaks are entirely different, with entirely different ideals, goals, and people.
Anonymous is a bigger force on the internet, but WikiLeaks is a much bigger force outside of the internet (IRL). Y'know, because they're entirely different.

Anonymous gives intel to Wikileaks along with other people. Ta-da. No. 4chan anonymous =/= IRL anonymous people. 4chan is just a bunch of people on the internet. The actual anonymous people who have given Wikileaks intel are people who stole or downloaded secret documents and are marked anonymous for privacy.
