I have an awesome, possibly world record setting idea! If anyone is familiar with 3D origami, you will know that it is putting many identical triangle pieces together into a 3D figure. If you are not familiar, google image search 3D origami.
What if the entire moon got together to make a moon with the word "PogoTribe" and an arrow pointing to the bottom on it? Now, I'm not talking about something you could fit on a desk, this would be something huge. Like, world record huge. WE, the Pogotribe, could take the world record for biggest 3D origami! Here is the current record:
Largest origami construction from identical modules
From September 2000 to April 2001, Nicholas (USA) made a "Menger's Sponge" level 3 from 66,048 units.
Jeannine Mosely USA, completed a level 2 Sierpinksi sponge in December 1995, with 2400 identical modules. It took about 15 hours total to construct, and over a period of about 2 weeks, working on it for 2 to 3 hours at a time, every couple of days.
Lets aim for about 70,000
First we need the pattern. This would most likely be made my one group of people with minor tweaks made by the community. Than we would take count of how many units of what colors we need.
Than we need the units made. If as little as 100 people help, each person only needs to make about 700 pieces. That may seem like a lot, but it only takes about 10 seconds or less for each piece. That means each person would only spend about 2 hours total making them. You spend at least an hour a day just waiting. At the bank, at a restaurant, on the bus, etc. You could do that in less than two days without even trying! Of course, you would be assigned how many of what color you would need to make, but maybe we could work out where we send you the precut pieces of paper on the correct colors in an envelope, and you send the folded pieces back in a yellow package envelope.
Than we need to assemble it. We would have to decide where and when to build it, and then have a bunch of us meet. With as little as 100 helping, we could have it done in about 5 hours.
Of course, we would have to get Guennis in on it. We would have to fill out forms and have official witnesses and all ready beforehand.
Who wants to help plan out how we are going to make the PogoTribe A WORLD RECORD HOLDER?
