Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I don't check southpoleofthemoon often and rarely post on threads.
If you get on revision three then you have seen many viewers dissapointment with d3p0. I am one of those haters that are dissapointed. Yes dan, danielle and all spotm admins. I am a d3p0 hater but not a troll.
Hopefully one of the admins who see this can show danielle, as she is one of the admins, or many of you guys are also revision 3 admins.
Anyways on to the message.
I am expressing my discontent in the best way possible. Dan has begun to turn d3p0 into something that is interesting but not entertaining. You are also not picking important tasks that "use our awesomeness for good." You have taken several breaks and never been fully committed to fulfilling your promise of something that is world changing.
I would like you to start taking yourself and this project seriously. If not you will lose me and the rest of the haters as viewers and subscribers. Remember Dan, YOU DROPPED OUT OF COLLEGE FOR THIS. You thought this was so incredibly important that it would require you dropping out. I would appreciate you improving. I know many of the d3p0 loyalist are going to tell me to GTFO. but truthfully that is exactly what i am going to do if you don't improve. I keep hoping you will do large and important tasks. However, in actuality most of the tasks you have done recently are small and easy to do.

It's funny cause Dan doesn't check SPOTM anymore. Rob might read this, but a lot of people feel this way.

It's funny cause Dan doesn't check SPOTM anymore. Rob might read this, but a lot of people feel this way. He hasn't logged on in AGES! And yeah. I totally agree. He doesn't show any motivation. At all. Just watch the last episode and tell me I'm wrong. Even Danielle does look that way. Or she was just sick (rewatch the latest video, she's sniffling a lot). I hope it's the latter, because the former would be a huge blow to dan.

Sick I'm sure. It's pretty cold in LA.. D3PO is entertaining, but not world-changing. Edit: and colder in San Fran..

D3PO is entertaining, but not world-changing This. People need to understand this and get over the fact that it won't do anything. It might do some small stuff down the road, but not world changing.

Well, I don't care if it's world-changing or not, it's just gotta be damn entertaining!!! Talking about interesting topics was soooo much better than doing a few things viewers suggest for half an episode and then watching a commercial for the other half.
I mean seriously, that last episode of D3P0 was TERRIBLE. The tasks were a joke, no one in their right mind would wanna watch someone get a tree, or decorate their house in the way Dan did, it was soo lame. It's not like Dan can't turn this around in an instant anyways, all he needs to do is listen to us unsatisfied viewers, he could learn a lot, and actually make D3P0 awesome, and fun to watch. Like seriously, what's stopping him?
Anyways, there are plenty of other YouTubers out there to enjoy...

My favorite thing is that when he shows the tasks they are very low in votes and are small and minute. He has been "about to get into gear" for the whole project.
Honestly the duct tape thing was pretty legit. The wikileaks thing was cool because it was a lot like 2.0 but those are the only cool things i can remember up to this point that has come from 3.0
Here is my summary of the project up to this point.
1)He started making videos with some success and things looked like even though they would take time to improve they didn't look too terribly bad.
2)he realized how much he was starting to suck and hired someone to edit videos but really michael didn't do much other than make the videos look artsy
3) He gave up because he got bored with the project. It kind of reminds me of when he quit vlogvetica. In fact vlogvetica was a lot like d3p0. A bunch of unmotivated young people who were comfortable with their lives and didn't want to reach out and expand their lives.
3.5) at some point he realized his intense liking of danielle or love, whatever he calls it and decided to go see her twice. At that point he pitched her the idea to go join him on his journey.
4) He started again and all of a sudden he thought that he needed to move. He felt the "creative energy" would be great somewhere else
5) he went on a road trip to see some of his subscribers. Cool, but not productive.
6) he decided that once he got back it was time to move. He asked us to vote on which city we liked. Of course San Francisco won, it was the city he wanted to win
7) now we are in the present..... He is in San Fransisco but the videos have only become less creative and less frequent. If this is creative energy then lincoln nebraska must have had 10 million times the energy that SF has.
He won't read this. Danielle might read this if she gets fed up with dan's lack of creativity and decides to check out what spotm is saying.
Honestly Dan here is my thoughts about you.
I found Mitchell Davis by looking at most viewed videos or something like that(I think the first video i watched was his usher/mcmb one). I watched his videos for a while.
Then he announced vlogvetica and I checked them out and it seemed pretty cool. I subbed to dan because he seemed interesting.
After a few weeks of watching his videos i had decided that i liked it and would stay subscribed.
Then at some point he quit vlogvetica, and said he had an amazing project that would require his full attention and would also require him to drop out of school.
We all came up with ideas that were way too over the top. Then we soon realized it was probably just a weekly video blog in which we got to decide what he was going to do.
What kills me is that in one of his videos he played a conversation backwards in which the person said something along the lines of "wow dude thats amazing." Nothing in d3p0 has amazed me yet.
It just makes no sense to me that someone would drop out of college for this. Being a college student myself, i know that getting a job is going to be damned tough after i graduate, especially with a degree in broadcast journalism.
I hope the best for you dan but you are the most unmotivated person i have seen in a while. I wish i could sit on my ass and post dumb stuff on the internet and make 30,000 + dollars a year and be sure that the future would be ok.
After reviewing this letter it sounds like i am an enraged girlfriend and i am breaking up with you haha. but its whatever, he wont read it and everyone else will probably think i'm an obsessive compulsive mom that has no outlet to express herself so she gets on youtube.
the only way to top off this long rant is to add a nice penis 8============================D

Oh dude, this is so wrong. What? When did he give up? I've been watching the whole time, and he hasn't given up. There was a time where he did, but not after Michael joined Right, cause a colab channel is the perfect way to expand your life They've been dating since November 2009. Danielle joined after the semester was over. I don't remember him visiting her twice :/ No, he realized that he could give more control to his audience by having them decide where to live. He also couldn't really live in his mom's house anymore :/ This was one of the highest rated tasks. It was fun for a lot of people and a great idea No, the vote started before he went on the road trip. San Francisco did win cause he wanted to live there though. If you're like, really really optimistic... maybe He's got his life set up for him. He didn't need college. He dropped out cause he could Is that the only reason you're mad at him? :/

I'm not mad at him at all, just dissapointed.
I haven't watched every episode so i'm probably wrong about the visiting two times thing
and the part about giving up was before michael joined, my bad
The main reason behind this rediculous thread is just confusion. I wonder if he thinks that the project is living up to what he proposed? At this point we aren't deciding what is going on in his life, we are simply deciding little things that he can do to entertain himself.
There have been some big changes in his life since the project started, but in terms of affecting any kind of community as a whole it hasn't done much. I would say it started spotm but it was started before 3.0 if im not mistaken

It's the week before Christmas. He just moved into a new apartment. He and his girlfriend must fly to completely separate areas of the country probably today. Other things are going on. Sorry if it's been pretty weak in the task-area lately, but he is unable to do the bigger things this month.
As soon as all of his things are in San Francisco and he settles in, things like which tasks are completed will improve. Us D3P0 admins will force Dan to step up his game and complete higher rated tasks with gusto when we roll into 2011.
I will try my best to personally voice these concerns to Dan, but I'm sure he's fully aware. I find it kind of ridiculous that one lame episode amongst several that have been pretty entertaining makes people flip out so much. Has your favorite TV show never had a few bad episodes? Does your favorite movie not have several dumb parts? Is your chicken parmesan not cooked all the way through? Wait, scratch that last one.
Due to my laziness and short attention span, I have decided not to read your lengthy post. Dan 3.0 will get better come 2011 and I will tell Dan about this thread.

I hope he takes into consideration what he makes us think about him.
He may not be a lazy sellout, and I don't think he is, but the whole project has made him seem like that.
Dan: I won't stop watching your videos. It's something I just can't do after all these years, but I can't stand to see you like this. What is it that really motivates you? What is is that makes you get out of your bed everyday? Why did you start this revolutionary project? I hope it's not for the lulz. PDBAZ.

Erm.. 30,000 bucks a year for a 12 hour work day is below minimum wage. Just saying. I wouldn't be too comfortable with my future if I was making that..

Side note: He'd be living pretty well in mexico. Min wage here is $4.46 USD/day (yeah. PER DAY.), so don't go around complaining. </economy rant>

Rob, you are the man. Just in case you were wondering.
As long as his mindset changes from "about to get into gear" and into completing big tasks the project will be a success and people will instantly be much happier.
The highest rated task now would definitely make me call the project a mild success if he completes it. It is the one where he organizes a concert and donates the money to charity.
The project isnt a fail, he just needs to improve

I find it kind of ridiculous that one lame episode amongst several that have been pretty entertaining makes people flip out so much. Has your favorite TV show never had a few bad episodes? Does your favorite movie not have several dumb parts? Well, first, nobody's flipping out. We are genuinely concerned with his awful content, and we are not just ranting, we want Dan to change for the better. Second, yes TV shows often have lame episodes, BUT when the series itself sucks, the ratings are low and the reviews are terrible THE SHOW GETS CANCELLED!! The only reason the people who are dissatisfied with D3P0 are still watch Dan's videos is because we've been watching for so long and we've become attached. We want to believe that Dan can change. I mean honestly it's not really that difficult, all we're asking is to have Dan do more meaningful tasks, even if it requires more effort. Maybe this means he needs to hire another camera/editing guy... Whatever works, though.

I'm getting this weird zaK vibe from this thread. Must be the penis.
Anyways - it sucks - Rob will try to get Dan to fix it. The end - not much else we can do, really.

The end - not much else we can do, really. Ironic, considering Dan 3.0 was "the show where you call the shots"
