Okay I know I've been gone a long time, and if the tribe has decided on something, I guess who cares. But I visited monthly, and I think we don't yet. Its obvious after seeing Jean's thread about why we like Dan Brown. Completely obvious.
We like Intellectual Stimulation(just go with me here).
We all mostly joined(okay we all joined) because we were fans of Dan Brown. Why did we like him? Because he had stimulating debates and ideas that got our brains turning and our fingers flying(no sex joke intended). We are all pretty smart people here as I have come to know over the past year and a half. We all have ideas and very good reasons why we have them. We all suck at carrying out those ideas in real life(really, when have we ever gotten a project done?). Nerdfighteira is different, they are a community based on doing, not thinking. Think about it. Yes they have a debate board, and things like thoughts from places are good, but they do so many projects and good things. They are centered around that. We are centered around the mental part, getting people to change their mind and open up, to think outside of the box, and to use their minds to do great things. We try too hard to be like Nerdfighters, but we arent them. Yes there are those of us who are both, but in this community, we are thinkers and inspirers, and there we are doers. So what do I think our Noble Cause should be? Our Noble Cause should be to probe and expand the minds of the world, to get them to think open minded and to use their brains to solve problems, to help others, and to debate and solve that which they cannot solve by themselves.
I really think this is true, and would love to know what you guys think, I put this in projects because our Noble Cause is a project right?
So how do we do this? Make our forum more debate and ideas based, have us discuss more, make it more interactive between members, and maybe, just maybe, make there be a way for us to collaborate with Nerdfighters to form a very strong community based on two forums, one of thinkers, one of doers, and alot members involved with both.

I see what you mean. There are so many ignorant people out there who don't know how to have an open mind.

I think you just said that to be negative. open minded atheists call the religious closed minded often without considering the other side's position or even letting them explain. pro gay marriage people call those who are opposed closed minded even though they may have a very good reason for it if you just took a moment...im not looking to start a debate (thats for debate club) but no one is TRULY open minded

Oh. Dictatorship. Not cool. Still. Hold it there all of you. This thread is not created for fighting. If you want to fight/debate/bitch at each other, go to the Debate Club or take it in private messages. Jeez. As for you Joey, I'd like to ask you how could we implement what you said in a project. Yes. I repeated Jean's question.

I really think alot of it just has to do with getting as many people here as possible. Then we could implement major debates going with each other over topics that need to be figured out. Our goal would be to 1)Get everybody to be open mindedmake sure everybody understands the concept, and then it would be to work together to see what we could do about it. And we could try to get Dan in on it too. His weekly topic could deal with it, bringing major traffic to us. Say a debate on Hunger. Not that there is necessarily two sides, but we debate(a better word would be "discuss") the topic, then after we have heard all the sides, we would find a way to do something about it, and if we can change each others minds about something then all the better! Collectively we decide on what we could do, by research and other things, then we could try handing it off to NF's so they can implement the idea in their way. And Asher brings up an insanely good point. There are so many close minded people in the world. Our main goal here would be to make them open minded. To "Stand by what they know to be true" and to understand why they believe it. Say we start a discussion on Abortion. There are many ignorant people who are so close minded on both sides its impossible to find a solution together. If we could really get the whole community thinking here in our little community, then encourage them to go out and 1)Tell everyone they know about the moon and 2)To use what they learned here in real life. Doing that, we actually can make an impact in the world. A collaboration with Nerdfighters would be a great way to start, because they are so much like us, and would be the perfect group for us to get with. Then the whole youtube community, then the internet, then the world MWAHAHA! Yea thats about it, your guys ideas are welcome too you know! I wrote this quick so if you have any questions of what I mean, ask away. And if you disagree, tell us!

Meh, I see your point, but I've always viewed the Debate Club as a way to waste time when there's nothing else happening here. I'm like "No projects? I'll go argue with people lawl." Regardless of why I joined, I stayed for the projects (and left when there weren't any good ones anymore). So I still think that we are (or at least used to be) focused on ending worldsuck (Granted, ever since I came back I've had no clue what you guys want to get out of SPOTM). He'll be a mod soon so he could theoretically make YOU shut up Oh god, please no.
