So basically, when our brains shut down, we experience the afterlife with very limited sentience, like a tree or a sunflower might experience the world?

Well I couldnt possibly tell you, Im just proposing the idea that if thought and life is so simply yet complicatedly formed in our universe, with the scientific fact that all energy is constantly transformed from state to state and nothing ever ceases to exist, what makes it so hard to believe that your energy may in fact continue to exist in a different form?
Also understand that afterlife is just what happends after you die. As far as your concerned an enternity of nothing is still an afterlife.
