Im gunna feel like a douche but that made me lol for some reason. And honestly dude, just because one letter was changed, doesn't mean the word is different. If i said to an average black man "Whats up nigga" I'd get in trouble, and if i said "What's up Nigger" I'd also get in trouble. Haha You'd be surprised to know how many black people won't do anything to you if you say the word nigga. I know I'm one of them lol. I guess it all depends on who you say it to, but the average? I don't think so. Try it on a black friend (assuming you have any) that you've known for a very long time, he/she will more than likely be cool with it. Now that I think of it, it's kinda like an unwritten rule (lol), "if you're cool with me, then you can say nigga" (not MY rule, like I said, I don't care, it's just a word) But yeah, I'd say you'd have a 10% chance of being beaten up and a 10% chance of getting a stern talking to. Well, what I meant was a random dude I've never met. I say nigga to my black friends all the time, but they don't care because I make it funny.

I'm doing a school project on To Kill a Mockingbird. I have to do a section for each letter of the alphabet. For N, I'm doing the N-Word. Should I write it as "the N-word" or the actual word? Keep in mind that I'm in the 8th grade and I'm in a district with a large African American population. The fact that you're in a district with a large African American population has nothing to do with my answer but... Being that you are an 8th grader the "N" word should be treated the same as any other cuss word. If you're questioning useing it then you should just follow your own instincts and not say it. However depending on the context in which your useing it... in other words if the word is said for educational reasons only as that was common for a time period in which your report is on then I would say it's OK as long as you make it perfectly clear that it is educational only and not what you personally think of as an African American. This means you're trying to be as non offensive as possible while still talking about historical facts and this is something which could be difficult for someone your age to do. I would recommend talking it over with your parents and/or teacher first before you try something like this. On a more personal note, I would not say it for any reason and it is actully the only word I consider to be a cuss word. That's just me though. Whatever the case may be I hope you do well on your assignment.

personally i think this thread is just trollin but maybe thats just me lol i think that is the first or my posts that you have ever read cortney i am genuinely honored lol anyway what i meant was...what did you expect from a thread like this? anyway taking this seriously i'd say (knowing the project is over...yes) that i see no problem in using the N word as a topic in my essay, seeing as in "to kill a mockingbird" racism plays a major part.
