Nothing's more annoying than trolls. A block function would be nice.

I disagree. I feel the whole point of being here is to communicate with people who are different from us, to understand what drives and motivates them and to include them in community building. That way we can come to understand and value all people and accept absolutely anyone as part of our community.
A block function would circumvent all this. You hate one of us you hate all of us. I think if we get the community to stage 5 people then who are normally very negative and cynical and don't behave nicely will get caught up in the atmosphere and become positive and open and climb up the levels much faster than it takes the people who are here first.

Granted, but sometimes SHIRT goes sideways, as much as these values make us feel warm, fuzzy, and prideful.
What I'm getting at in particular was when I started getting harassing private messages from a particular user. I ended up pretty much spamming the admins because there was no 'report' or 'block' function. Would've been much easier if I could just block the user or hit "report". This is a basic function that most forums have by default.
I know, I know, we shouldn't HAVE to do this, but again - In reality, trolls come along once in a while.

Think of the levels....that is all
blocking users will probably not be a feature activated in the pogotribe for that reason

Okay, in that case, what about a "report" button? Granted volumes of reports may go up and down, but I'm sure there are enough admins. (That is, to have a report button not only in the forums, but in private messages as well)

Like I've told you already: ignore them. Do not reply.

Well c'mon guys, I'm gonna be frank - What's the point of the suggestions forum if every time a reasonable suggestion is made, it just gets shot down, or excuses are made as to why it can't be done?
I've been a web designer for years, not to mention I run dozens of forums just like this. The point is I can vouch that it's not difficult at all to install a "report" function or component modification if it's not a publishable default. Every forum that I manage, in which this request was made, (...and it has been made), it was never a problem because there's no reason not to. (That is, talking about a 'report' button specifically)
Granted, it's a wonderful ideal to just ignore trolls, and yes, in context I'm referring to one isolated incident. And yes, I shouldn't have fed the troll and I'll refrain in the future. But as the forum grows in mass and gets some age behind it, trolls and bots will find their way in.
Sorry to be stubborn, but just thought I'd throw in my critical two cents for what it's worth.

Your suggestion isn't being shot down, there's just nothing I can do about it. Only Patrick, the president of ProBoards, can implement something like this. And even he may not be able to.
Now, I could bring this up to Patrick, yes... but, unfortunately, there is a very long list of other things that definitely take priority over this. You are the first user to find any need for a Block function. So, for the time being, just ignore them.

You do realize that like 80% of the ideas that people suggest in the suggestions forum is stuff that people have already suggested and talked about already.

Ok, Well for the record, should this get addressed with Patrick in the near future - If it's something he doesn't know how to do, feel free to drop me a PM and I would be more than happy to suggest a compatible module (They're usually free to download with proper licensing, 9 times out of 10)and offer some tips for quick painless installation and programming edits. (Although, I'd be a little surprised if it's not an optional default setting in the back end of the forum that is just unpublished.) Just throwin' that out there.

I sort of meant right away. As in, a feature has to be part of ProBoards before it can be part of our forum. He'd have to put it in the next version or whatever.
At least, that's how I imagine it works. I'm a noob, so.
