War. It’s apart of our daily reality. There is always a group of people fighting for whatever cause in some part of the world. It’s in our nature. The earliest human skeletons were found with arrowheads in their rib cages and as you look through history there are two things that don’t change: the advancement of weapons technology and war. You can always fight your beliefs but when you fight your biology, you will always lose.

One day we won't have war any more. Either under a ruthless dictator capable of annihilating anyone that dares appose him/her or under a kind, just ruler that brings people together through negotiations and diplomacy. Code Geass is an anime that deals with this great anime worth a watch

In the time of hunter-collectors, there was no war, there was fighting. War can only be when you have land as property, thus starting from when men settled first.

"all free minds to the front, all free minds to the front, we call upon women, we call upon children, we call upon the handicapped, the infirmed, the weak of heart, we need your courage, your dedication, your passion."
one thing i find genuinely ironic and sad is that many wars are fought in the name of peace. why cant world leaders just settle their stupid little disputes with a nice little game of Call Of Duty or like robot wars or something
it is the age we live in and it is the nature of humanity.

I agree. I think all disputes, from here on out, should be settled with a fair game of nose goes. It makes a lot more sense than war.

there have been several cultures throughout history, like early Chinese cultures, which just sent 2 champions from each side and let those 2 fight. The winner takes it all

Code Geass is an anime that deals with this great anime worth a watch The way I feel about a "supreme leader" in our country, it could NEVER exist (and be successful). I'm not sure if it's just this country (most likely not), but there are waaay too many people here that oppose each other. There's no way someone in the country wouldn't oppose our leader and attempt to overthrow them (by assassination or some other means). Although the following weren't "supreme leaders", they were just as influential and were assassinated by opposition of ideas: John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, and Malcolm X. We don't like being told what to do. If we can control the rules, we will. Hence why we have a democracy.

From what I understand, wars are rarely for the benefit of the populace (in any way). Historically at least, "leaders" of various nations stage wars for their and their friends' economic benefit. An this still seems to be the trend today.

I just watched that video and that guy has a great point. The violence in the 20th Century is nothing compared to the Middle Ages. I never thought about that. Maybe war will be obsolete 100 years from now.

"No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." - Winston Churchill, 11 November 1947 just thought i'd share it in the discussion, also, war can be fought without land... how about religion? (middle ages, war vs government and church) true, that example isn't a war of soldiers, but a war it was...
