en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganglion_cystD: So uh. My boyfriend has one of these on the underside of his wrist. Today he was telling me about them and he goes "Yeah you can get them here, or-" took my wrist and turned it around "- here.... uh, Jean you have a ganglion cyst". D: Yeah so I have one of these bad boys on the top side of my wrist. It's been sore to bend my wrist forward for nearly a year now and goes numb sometimes and I could never figure out why cause I didn't notice the lump. Well know I know. Sigh. Anyway, the reason I'm posting this is I wanna know if anyone else has gotten these before. Apparently they're pretty common. And ifyou did, how did you deal with them? I'm worried I'll go to a doctor and they'll be like: oh, just leve it, it'll go away. Or even worse: don't move it for a while and it'll go away. Cause not moving my wrist means no typing or using a mouse and then I'd have a really sad and boring life... ironically enough. How likely do you think a doctor would be to say that? Or would they drain it, or tell me to get it surgically removed? Sorry for grossing anyone out D:

I have one on the inside of my forearm, but its benign. My friends mom just recently had one in her wrist that was also causing problems removed. Its supposedly not that big a deal, they pop it or take it out, you have a cast for a little while and then you're all better - no more problems.
I would suggest talking to a doctor about it, especially if its causing problems.

DOCTORS ARE HACKS! Everything you need: - A sharp Knife
- Some strong alcohol
- A lighter
- A bad of sour patch kids (you just cut your own cyst off.. you deserve a treat)

Dude. I have one of these bad boys. I think. My hand has actually been numb in the recent past. I'm scared now... I thought it was jut a strange bone popping out from bassoon playing. Odd.
EDIT: I researched it and I learnededededed stuff. They're usually removed with a needle and syringe to displace the fluid. Occasionally, they're removed surgically. A lot of the time, they disappear naturally.

..yeeaaahh... but I kinda dont want to accidentally cut my own arm off. Really though its amongst loads of veins and nerves and junk and i dont wanna risk stabbing something that shouldn't be stabbed. I quite appreciate the use of my right hand. Yeah, doctor it is then. I just hope they actually remove it rather than putting my hand in a splint =(

Well in fairness shese not sure if its a ganglion cyst or not (soon to be confirmed im assuming) but also its not an illness or anything, its just something that can range in size over time.
My sis has one and shese said that it has varied in size over time, sometimes attributed to stress... im not sure if her stressful times (bar THAT TIME OF THE MONTH) are got to do with work like writing papers or something but yeah.
Theyre mega common too.
And the stuff that comes out of them is awesome.
