Hey PogoTribe!!!!!!!!
Six years ago, when I was eight, I made a promise to myself that every single day, I would do something to change the world for the better. Later, when I started watching the vlogbrothers, I changed the wording to "decreasing World Suck." Whatever you want to call it, I think there is that drive to help the world within us all. But, maybe you don't have the passion to devote your entire life to doing charity work in Africa. But that's okay!!! I've been doing small things, but every day, which can add up to a lot in the long run! ^_^ I'd like to hear your ideas on this, and let us know about the little things YOU do, so that we can all help a little bit more! Here are some of my things:
1) FreeRice www.freerice.com -- I LOVE FreeRice! It is a website, where they ask you academic questions, in a subject area of your choosing (Famous paintings, chemical symbols, English grammar or vocab, country locations, world capitals, French, German, Italian, Spanish, basic math, and the multiplication table), in different levels of difficulty, and they will donate ten grains of rice to help end world hunger (through the World Food Programme). This is great, because you can study or improve your vocabulary, while changing the world! I have this open in my tabs all the time, so I can just switch over, answer some questions, and then continue doing whatever I'm doing.
2) FreePoverty www.freepoverty.com/ -- This is similiar to FreeRice, in that it asks you to locate a place on a map, and based on your accuracy, it will donate up to ten cups of clean water to those who do not have access to clean drinking water!
3) other sites like this include www.freeflour.com and www.charitii.com
4) Twibbons!!! www.twibbon.com/ -- Twibbons are mini-banners which you can add to your Twitter's avatar picture, to raise awareness for an organization! This is great for letting people know about causes and charities you support. I've had people ask me about my twibbons, and so I told them about the charity/cause, and now they know about it, and might join the cause!
5)Facebook Causes www.facebook.com/#!/causes -- This is a great way to raise awareness of causes among your friends! You can even invite people to join them!!!
6) Petitions, petitions, petitions!! -- Sign petitions!!! This is a great way to get things done, and make your voice heard!!!!! You just sign the petition, and then advertise that you have, so people who agree with it can sign as well!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do this all the time, and some of them have actually gotten through!!!
7) Talk about it!! -- Making comments, tweets, blogposts, and posts on forums like this one about issues in our world and charities that need help is a great way to get your ideas heard!
8) Advertise! -- Bumper stickers, t-shirts, hats, buttons, wristbands, etc. help spread awareness!!!!!!
I will probably add more to this list soon!! Don't forget to tell us HOW YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE EVERY DAY!!! ^_^
