Hi, I'm Chelsea, and I'm going to college next year. Without boring you with the details, I want to ask the people who have graduated college some questions: 1.) How much did the college you attend cost? 2.) How much of the cost was covered by scholarships, grants, etc.? 3.) How much did your parents contribute to the cost? 4.) What was your debt from student loans after graduation? 5.) (If applicable) How long did it take you to pay off your debt?
Any help on these questions would really be appreciated. Thanks guys.

1. I went to Penn State as an in-state student. I believe, on average, tuition cost about $15,000 per year (or about $7,500 per semester). 2. My family is low-income, so probably about 75-85% of it was non-loans. 3. My parents didn't have to contribute anything. The EFC I got each time was usually very small. 4. I think I owe ~$25,000 (where most who went to PSU owe ~$60,000). 5. Well, I don't have a job yet, so I have no idea how long it'll take to pay off. My grace period ends in June (since I went to grad school for a semester and got deferment).

1.) I pay around $2000 per semester for university itself. 2.) Some of this is given in grants from the Canadian government. I don't know about the USA. 3.) I moved out when I was 18. I pay my own rent etc. The loans help with this. Also I work. 4.) It will be more than $40,000 by the time I am a teacher. 5.) It should* take a few years of living abroad and teaching English, if I'm lucky... *Has not yet happened, but apparently teaching English abroad is a great money-earner for new teachers.

WHAT THE FLICK? how the hell can it possible cost that much??? This is crazy? Don't they want you to study and become more intelligent? Seriously? WTF If I remember correctly, my tuition for a whole years costs about €500.. Then I still have to pay my books and and food and a student apartment. I guess about €2500 per year, and then of course other expenses, like beer and manga.

In Scotland it's free for Scottish people. Considering they give back to the economy, this is a clever thing to have, I think.

haha, I know you were kidding And no, it wouldn't be to late. Our universities don't refuse people. Last year I only registered in August... This is the site of my university: www.ugent.be/en/exchangethough I think that's actually for people who are already registered as exchange students. But I'm sure you'll be able to find all the necessary info. To prove that it's not hard to get in, I have 2 Russian people, a Chinese and a Malaysian girl in my course, and we're only about 35 people in total in our year...

1. tuition about $30,984 a year at uvm Link to that information here2. Most of it was covered by scholarships and grants because i was a nerd. 3.My mom gave me about 1k a year, but mainly for travel to and from NY, and for books 4. None, i paid it all while in school. I am debt free since 87, which is when i was born. On a side note, the last 2 years tuition went up remarkably. I needed to pay about 4 k out of pocket, but i was working during the summer on research which more than overed those expenses... I was making 12 k a year doing research in college. The funny thing is, I got paid more in college than now that i am out of college...

Country: Ireland
1.) How much did the college you attend cost?
College was free.
2.) How much of the cost was covered by scholarships, grants, etc.?
Didn't have to pay for college and then i got an extra 300 euro a month for rent and food... which wasn't much help. Also it came late, one lump sum at the end of the year so i still had to struggle through the year.
3.) How much did your parents contribute to the cost?
Whatever else I needed, I'm really lucky to have them.
4.) What was your debt from student loans after graduation?
0, in fact i had savings.

I went to college on a PELL grant. When I got a job, the PELL grant stopped. Both my parents were poor and I was always taught never to get a loan. So I had to drop out of college due to no finances. I continued to study and now I have my own YouTube channel. My channel is dedicated to those who simply can't afford college. If I can ever win a college scholarship, I will definately return to college and get a degree. Until then, I will continue to post videos to help everyone I can.

And by the way, I still maintain my low debt lifestyle. I don't have to worry about a mortgage or a car loan. And I don't have to worry about any outstanding education loans.
