We, as a tribe, are a network of people that have already proven to be capable of working together towards a common goal.
A project that I still participate at about using idle time from your computer gave me the idea for this project.
There are hundreds of youtubers out there who would love to get help with their banners, music for their videos, and somewhere where people can hear about them.
Here in the moon we already work on art, music and have the newsletter, so how about we help them.
Now, by no means do I mean it would be for free, and by no means do i mean that we would ask for money.
We would work for donations, not for ourselves but towards other charities.
Say for example someone wants a catoonish portrait of themselves for a youtube page. We would separate the task to several members of the moon who would be willing to do work on it. On the condition that the youtuber goes to donates blood three times and captures himself going on video. Once we see it, we send the file.
Same thing can be done for shout outs on the newsletter. We add a small article mentioning the video maker if he donates a few clothing items to the "salvation army" (or another similar place)
We would be using our skills towards getting rid of world suck, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Still I'm not sure how many people would be willing to help out, and what would be the rules.
So what do you guys think? ;D

I like the idea. I was actually thinking about putting together a team of graphic artists for this purpose, but I hadn't thought about expanding it further than the SPOTM. I was going for graphic artists, as this is where my expertise lies. I don't know if anyone would be willing to put together a team of musicians?

My good sir. If I had any skills I would offer them to this cause. If we can get enough support for this idea we could probably ask Dan or have him ask one of the Green Brothers to announce it, So that those people who would be interested in taking advantage of a project to end world sucks would be informed that such a project exists. I ask that everyone keep in mind that not only are artistic skills, like drawing or photoshopping or what have you, needed but also Video editing, music skills, Beard styling. If you've got any kind of skills to contribute, then do!

I'm thinking the triad project my group is working on will help this project, but for now I though I would put his out there so people would start thinking about it

I have been thinking up something which runs along these lines. I will start working on it when I have more time.

I have been thinking up something which runs along these lines. I will start working on it when I have more time. Maybe you could add to this one then that way there wont be two projects with so similar goals Actually I think there has to be multiple projects which are dedicated towards a single goal - raising money. Maybe this would be a good time to start a paypal account for the tribe were any project which we manage to monetize on we would donate to that? Which would be spent on our cause when we come up with it. The account should be kept in safe hands and should be handled with TOTAL transparency. I've been part of quite a few communities which raised money to keep the board (and features) running, instead this would be donated (or invested) in something which would fight FOR this cause. This was all to be done in my project, (the actual project was about raising money for the account) maybe if there already is an account it would take less pressure off it. </suggestion> With that said, I think we should keep money as a secondary goal for projects and start out from the question "how can we make SPOTM a better place?" rather than "how can we raise money for the SPOTM account?". That is why I didn't suggest the SPOTM donation account before. To not jeopardize other peoples thinking as regards projects.

great great great idea! CARTOONS FOR BLOOD hee hee I know, not necessarily, but it's a catchy title.
The only thing is that I will only take part in a money raising activity if I either know the money is going directly to charity or I know exactly what project it is being spent on. The idea of raising money for some future project i might not necessarily agree with or support or even know about gives me the creeps.

Yea it wouldn't be for money, and the person asking for the product would have to specify which charity they had chosen before the donation was done.
