I'm actually kind of glad that he seems to be past the whole FSM thing. That was fucking retarded. I thought the satire was funny, but I think it went a little far.

I think that there will always be people saying he's losing it and some saying that he's a genius. It's getting old.

To be fair, having a serious discussion requires more effort than a silly one, and as we get closer to vidcon Dan's secret project is naturally gonna demand more of his focus.

the point of the Thursday video is to respond to another youtuber, that doesn't necessarily mean being serious. Dan is still having the Jesus discussion this week which ought to be really interesting. The rest of his videos in a week are just mean to be light-hearted fun. And I personally think it creates a good balance on his channel x

Dan puts out five videos a week as it is, two of them being related to a serious topic. I can't imagine how he keeps up with all of the responses he gets, especially considering the controvercial subjects that he addresses.
Btw, "thatzak" (the guy dan responded to in his thursday video) is a great youtuber. You should all check him out if you haven't already. :)

Sup bros, Dan's "I Was Cuter Than You" was a response to my video. It seems that a lot of people think that Dan has jumped the shark and I think it's quite the opposite. What's wrong with mixing both serious and silly topics? People subscribe to Dan expecting a certain thing from his channel, and when the people's expectations aren't met, disappointment arises. Variety is a good thing, it keeps the videos fresh and interesting.
And to address swan, I think it takes a lot more talent to be able to do switch between serious and silly (and do both successfully) than it is to just stick to one style.
Also, to the people who complain about the FSM video fail to recognize its genius. Yes, it was satire, and yes, it was taken too far and it was a bit misguided, but that was done on purpose. Dan was trolling. Dan aims to inspire discussion and to build community, and the Tea Time video did just that. Something I've been asking myself a lot lately is how do Youtuber's build a community under themselves? The answer is rather simple, you just get your viewers to talk to each other. The Tea Time video created intense debate and discussion about whether or not Dan was being serious and what the video truly meant. That video strengthened the Tribe.
And thanks to JudsonRadio for calling me a great Youtuber, even though I don't believe it to be true.

I joined the pogo tribe, because I felt Dans ideals appealed to me much like the Nerdfighters so I decided to join. I havent noticed if his lost his touch, because really I only started watching his videos now. But I like them now and thats why I'm here.

Dan's always been goofy. In season 1, he didn't address too many serious topics. If anything, I think he keeps improving. And let's be honest, a lot of the people who enjoy watching Dan Brown is because he's just enjoyable to watch. He's a great mix between serious and silly. If his videos were only about controversial issues, he probably wouldn't be able to gain as many viewers as he is now.

For some reason, the whole internet will blow up in anger if there's any change of some sorts, when in America, Obama's motto was "Change."
I always thought that was weird...

^What Sarah said
I couldn't agree with Zak more, I think mixing up his video's, and being able to comfortably both Serious and intellectual and be entertained by a stoned-gorilla is exactly why I both like and respect Dan Brown. Clinging to your immaturity is exactly what Dan should be doing right now, if for no other reason than..well...Dan's 19 years old he's a young adult and he's beginning his transition into adulthood just like myself and a LOT of you guys are too. Dan being able to research , speak about, and spark the conversations and debates that he does is, in my eyes, a sign of true intellect and desire to not only be heard, but to make everyone opinions matter. I would happily argue that there is no better sign of leadership and adulthood. But his crude jokes, or FSM satire, or even his love for pokemon (<3) are signs that he's still young, and the 2 concepts do not have to oppose each other, in fact I wouldn't want him to change, not for anyone, to change would show that he can't stick to his guns, to drop his interests means that he can be easily persuaded, or even sadder, that the ideals which he holds to be important can be comfortably dropped if he's not supported.
I want Danimus Maximus Maridius Brownicus to continue doing whatever he wants to do, so long as our voices are heard, and he is still happy, he will continue to be my fearless leader.
At least until he rips on pokemon, that's uncool.
