I think there was already a thread about this on the other forum. We were saying that it would be great if we had gatherings all over the world. Everyone would go to the closest to their city, and they would all connect online. Making it a super huge online/real gathering I was totally gonna say that, good thing I read this first xD. This would probably be the best way for the most people to reach out and connect at the same time, making it almost like we were all really there together. On another note, this may be too early, but pjpinc123 was right, we need to think unreasonably big, that's one of the goals here, right? Also, I'm not sure what we would be doing meeting up, is this just a fun idea, or would it be to discuss the future of our tribe as a whole? Because with that many PogoTribians meeting at once, in the same (kind-of) collective place, I think we could get some serious and super cool discussion going, about us, the tribe, and where we all think we're headed. Just my 2 cents =D

Why are you all such Debbie Downers?! We are going to have gatherings whether you like it or not > Ok, let's try to find somewhere that we can locate everyone.. I'll start a new thread with the map right now.

I think it would be great to have a gathering, but the reality is our tribe is not very stable so I think it is to early to start thinking about a gathering.

I think the tribe is plenty stable. I remember a thread on the old moon that said something about a gathering. I liked the idea and said it's cool if it's in New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.

The tribe might be stable enough, it's probably hard to tell. Some groups of people wothin the tribe might feel more attached to eachother than other for instance.
As Ariadan said, people from remote areas will probably be somewhat exiled. Im Swedish, and I think that Swedish and Europeans in general will have that problem. I don't think people will be so able to jsut take a plane to the other side of the atlantiv for a gathering.
I don't know how many of the people here are Europeans, the map isn't done yet. Hopefullt there are more than I think.

So I could get on a train to London or somewhere in England (where there is more people) but not so much on a plane to America etc

We don't need to gather the entire pogotribe, that's like asking all people of an country to gather at one spot.. that'd be too crowdy That's exactly what I would say, too. When there's one gathering, for example in San Francisco (like the vlogvetica gathering), then maybe just a tenth of the whole pogotribe could come to this gathering. But if there are many gatherings on different places in the world, then more members could come to more gatherings. I live in Germany, that's why I wouldn't ever be able to come to a gathering in the USA (it's too expensive for me). But a gathering in England for example would be better for me to reach (hypothetically).

Exactly! Something like this is what we need, many small ish gatherings all over the place, and hopefully like Ricy said, connect them all together, via skype, or some type of internet... thing.

I think that we should probably have several gatherings: some in the U.S., Canada and Europe (U.K., Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany etc.) - these are the places where I think most of the pogotribe members live. We could also use the "Where are you from" page on the wiki to find the most convenient places, based on where most members live. By the way, I like your idea, bomb

I think the hardest part is going to be finding out where everyone is.. There really aren't that many people that are dedicated to the moon and come here consistently, so it's hard to know who of the people that have already added themselves to the wiki and the map are still involved in SPOTM

About half of the members here have posted. That's kinda weird.

We should have it at Nerdapalooza 2010, which will be held in Orlando, Florida this June.

I don't know if we should leave the least the way I did it, or if we should put cities as headings and have people add themselves to a city (or add a city if they need to)..... :\

We should have it at Nerdapalooza 2010, which will be held in Orlando, Florida this June. Let me expound on this idea: The idea for smaller meet-ups around various places is fantastic, and if someone wants to organize one for their city/state, or something of that matter, they should do so! I've been a part of online communities for basically all of my life, and I've seen a lot of organizations of people meeting up from the internet. That's why I suggest that on top of the small meet-ups, we have one big meetup for as many people as possible to gather at. Now obviously it would be silly to have a ton of people from around the country (Or, world, if other people are really dedicated) meet up at one point for the sole purpose of just meeting. Yeah, it's fun and awsome, but there's got to be a bit more. Therefore, it would be awsome to stage a meet-up at an event already in progress; that is, some sort of convention that pertains to all members. Now personally I suggest Nerdapalooza, I think it's a great event, I think it's a TON of fun, and I think that given it's timing in about four months, it's a realistic endeavor. Of course, you may want to re-think and say some sort of convention specifically geared towards YouTubers, which is very understandable. However, my personal vote goes to Nerdapalooza 2010. I'm going to be there regardless (It's so much fun), so if anyone else wants to organize a meet-up, or if anyone just wants to go because it seems like fun to them, you can always chill with me. Honestly, I think we should figure out just how many people WOULD attend, not like "Oh I'd want to but my Mom says no."
I mean a LEGIT "I would Come!"
Then we can decide a location based upon how many people would attend.
But honestly, I think NYC would be the best location. NYC has things to do for a small hang out, or a large gathering at Central Park.
I believe Young Daniel has a birthday coming up...
Any way we can plan a PogoTribe Gathering around that?

We've want locations first. Most people can't give a definitive "I WILL go" unless they know where it is and it's convenient for them. We want to have a few smaller gatherings so that as many people as possible can go to at least one of them, which means more than one location, and the locations we choose will be based on who can attend where

well, I will try to come to a gathering if it is not too far away. I mean, there are almost no pogotribers in almost a 1000 km radius, I think, and I cannot travel very far, but I will definitely go if I can.
