why don't we have skype meetings as well? maybe like monthly PogoTribe skype meetings? Skype meetings to discuss a gathering? Or Skype meetings to get to know each other? Because we already have the latter.

Where, specifically, are we going to have it? We're going to try to have multiple gatherings. The locations will depend on where it would be most convenient for the most people.

JoeyBest...idea...ever. Okey now im gonna be "that boring guy" for a minute, but isn't it a bit early to start thinking about gatherings? It's a great idea, but it just seems like were just getting this thing to work. Its definitely something to look at in the far off future, 3 or 4 years down the road certainly. I understand where you are coming from. I'm afraid that "boring guy" is indeed your rational mind.

I mean, if I could get 10 people from SPOTM together, I would be ecstatic :]

i posted this a while ago...and ill post it again. to solve the distance barrier...i propose a simple solution. we hold different gatherings in different locations across the country and the world. for example, we have one in new york, one in nebraska, and one in california. then we have one in the UK, or 2 in the UK, or whatever. then at all of these gatherings we have live hookups to each of the other events via video streaming...there would be a station of stations with computers and webcams so each gathering could interact with the other. i think it can work...anyone like this idea?

We've discussed that many times in this thread. A lot of people like the idea. I personally don't. If I'm with other cosmic brownies IRL, I'm not going to give a shirt about talking to people online. Plus, it would be basically impossible to hold the gatherings at a time when it's convenient for people in every time zone.

well, its not like we'd all be sitting there on laptops...no i meant more like a kiosk where people can go once in a while to see who's on the other end and if the timezones are the only issue...im sure something can be worked out

That was my idea as well. Basically, what you would do, is figure out a time when the video streaming is going to be for GMT, and then just write down when that is at the other gatherings' locations. And you just make sure you're behind your pc then. Even if it's midnight, because if you know it is going to be at midnight, you can sort of think about that. And then you talk to each other for about an hour, and then you just disconnect and have fun IRL again. ^^

well, i was thinking more of scheduling them so that everyone can gather at a time that is reasonable...but that we should all be gathering at the same time...were all basically within 10 hours of each other...i think we can work something out. for example...california would be at 11:00 nebraska would be at 12:00 or 1:00 new york would be at 3:00 england would be at 9:00 and yeah stuff like that...i think we can pull it off. th ekiosks would be one monitor/webcam per gathering. so for example if w have a total of 6, each gathering location would have 5 monitor/webcam kiosks one for each other location. that way people could wander over...talk, walk away, mingle, wander back, talk, you get the idea i think its very possible to pull this off

Set up a webcam so you can see eachother head to toe, so it feels as if you are in real life, then project it on a large screen so it seems as if you are talking to that person. Set the webcam next to the screen or something...yea.

... then connecting those places through a skype-meeting. Or anything that includes audio and video.. I don't know how much Skype lags. I believe some sites, like BlogTV, supports broadcasts with several people with webcams at the same time (like... main broadcaster + "guests")? Could something like that work? EDIT: Oh and, I added myself to the wiki ^^

I don't know.. I think it would be a good idea for large gathering.. So people could go up, talk to some people for a few minutes, then get back to the gathering. But if you're having a small gathering, then I think the internet would be a distraction. So, I think for now we should just start trying to make small gatherings, and not worry about making them connect. I really want there to be some gatherings this summer, and if we try to make big gatherings that all coincide, that will fail and there won't be any gatherings at all.

well, it depends on how many gatherings you make, suppose 2 were made in the US one in cali and one in NYC then one made in the UK and maybe one more, i think iy would get a decent enough attendance where the internet wouldnt be a distraction
