Does it bother anyone else that the Delete Account button is, well, not next to the Modify Profile button, but on the same level? It's always the first button I see when I scroll to the bottom of the page and I've come close to clicking it before. I know there's probably confirmation needed before your account is actually deleted, but I think could be placed somewhere further from the Modify Account button. It's not a pressing issue, but one that has the potential to cause inconvenience in the future. Just my thoughts...

Sure, it could be in a different place. And sure, that'd probably be better.
But, honestly... I had to literally go to modify my profile to recall where it was. I barely notice it.

I clicked it once accidentally, but they ask you if you're sure. I still agree that it's dangerous, especially as if I'm given an option with "ok" i'll usually just click it.

I don't see the problem.

^ My eyes allways go in the direction of the delete one, its just natural to go to the one you see first... in my case that one. It is not the distance but the fact it is in the same area...

What would be so bad about deleting your account? Your post count (and possibly bookmarks) are the only things that would be affected.

Sean S.: We learn (apart from perhaps people in i.e. Japan) to read from left to right. I do not understand why anyone would read a page from right to left I didn't even know there was a "Delete Account" button...

Yes! This drives me nuts!
We do it because on most sites when buttons are positioned like that, the first one is the 'back' button and the second one it the 'next' button. So we usually go to the next one to confirm stuff or whatever. Its bad HCI tbh. It shouldn't even be a form button, it should be a link at the top somewhere or something. Somewhere where you can find it if you look a little but you wont accidentally press it.
I've never pressed it but every time i come close i have a tiny heart attack.
