Isn't bringing in recommendations in the process a step towards making it a popularity contest? Wouldn't that kinda undermine the point, even though they allegedly do not weigh that much in the outcome?

Due to my laziness and short attention span, I have decided not to read your lengthy post. no

If you've read this thread at all, then you would have your answer. Due to my laziness and short attention span, I have decided not to read your lengthy post. no The only thing said is that it may or may not affect the decision. I am questioning the implementation of them at all, and that it might lead it becoming more of a popularity contest. Because I believe it will affect things more than anyone thinks, even though the admins say it might not. With that I mean that they might be affected by it more than they think they will be. I don't see why there should be recommendations if they don't surely affect anything, anyway =P

Wouldn't that kinda undermine the point, even though they allegedly do not weigh that much in the outcome? The main reason we decided to allow recommendations is because there are some members who are upset about how the admins control the process. This is a way for everybody to have a voice. Of course, in the end, we'll pick the people who are best for the job. However, we will be able to factor in what you guys want, as well. Of course, that doesn't mean we'll pick someone who is less qualified purely because you guys like him/her. Edit - I kind of answered your other post, too. We won't let the recommendations lead to bad decisions when choosing admins. I think you guys are giving them more weight than we intended.

No one is really RUNNING for admin. The only people voting are the admins. It is more like applying for a job. The whole analogy to politics is particularly pointless... *sigh* The applicants are the voters, not the people running. No analogy is perfect.

Let's just stick with the basic principle of your info, your discretion. If they choose to tell, they can. If they want to keep it secret, they can. It's not our choice. =P

I'll give you one of the reasons: because when we pick the new admins, and you know all who applied, you'll know all of the people that got turned down. If that person chooses to tell you that they applied, then so be it. However, it is not at our liberty to tell you every single person who applied. Why not?

This isn't an election. Like someone said earlier, it's much more like a job application.

Tangerines? I love tanger...OH you said tangent...er...um. Yea
anyway, think it is like applying for a job. If you want to call all of your friends and tell them you applied, then good for you. The company dosent put out all who applied, because those that choose not to tell probably dosent like people knowing that they didn't get the job. I'm applying, but who cares? I chose to tell you, and I shouldn't be forced to have my name revealed if I didn't want it to.

I dont get why people keep talking like the admins are politicians. They're more like secretaries and you don't vote for secretaries. Nobody reads my posts, apparently. Apparently people only read the posts made by admins. =/ /me bangs head on desk

You know I'm joking! I hope. Honestly, I hate it when posts get overlooked or ignored. Despite the fact that I have a "shiny" name/title/whatever, sometimes people don't seem to read my posts. You are not alone! /me hugs And gosh darn it, I should really follow my own advice about staying on topic. >.<

This is getting interesting )_) Can't wait to see who gets chosen >.< quite the site it is! Sooo glad I was early enough while the site is still developing. Fascinating is the way the community works together awkwardly trying to get on a roll. Still considering recommendations =.= *scanning*

I'm wondering, how many people actually sent in applications?
