I'm doing a presentation on the Great Depression for history class and I need to discuss the lasting effects of the Great Depression. Any ideas? I'm stumped. By lasting effects, does it mean effects that are still present today? I'm confused. Thank youz!

It set precedents for things to do and not to do during economic downturn.
Hoover taught us that laissez-faire will not, in fact, work itself out of a depression.
FDR taught us that an abundance of social programs, while helping out a great deal, will not, in fact, carry a country out of a depression.
Hitler and Hirohito taught us that a mass demand of production that consumers will never see and the products of which will be immediately destroyed will, in fact, carry a country out of a depression.

Damn, should have used that one. Well, thanks, guys, I already finished the project, so... uh... this can be locked or just fade into obscurity, whichever.
