Did I not make this suggestion back in our first ever Admin Skype Call guys. All of you's rejected the idea. Soooo, why implement it now, when this should have been implemented on Day 1.

I don't remember that suggestion, but that's just me. Besides, we didn't have any behavior problems back in the beginning. Now we realize we need them.
Paddy, since you obviously have many problems with the way we are doing our jobs, how about you talk to us privately rather than on the forum? I don't want another 2 page argument like in the new admins thread. Tis quite spammy.

It wasn't as necessary at that time. There were many less members than there are now. We still want to hear your ideas on it, though!

Twice now you have started this and to be honest I dont think it fits with the pogotribe goals. We want to all be level 5. What you are saying is "Im right and your wrong, why didnt you listen to me!" and that is not good for anyone.

But all of you seem to not like that idea and that is ok! Srsly, WTF is your problem?? I was only bringing up a suggestion that us admins had ALREADY discussed. I am not saying anything about pogotribe goals or anything. @everyone: If I say something, don't criticise me for saying it. Ever heard of "Freedom of Speech". I am allowed to say what I want, and my views on anything is allowed to be said anywhere. So think before trolling. Kthxbai

I know I'm new here, but I don't really think all of Rob's suggestions are necessary. Maybe if we wanted to include "SPOTM Etiquette" okay, but as far as enforceable guidelines go... The government that governs least, governs best. We don't need micromanagement, we just need a push in the right direction. Therefore, for me, the original guidelines (if the first two are combined) are sufficient.

Yeah, I think that now that there has been a HUGE influx, we need to get these rules out as fast as possible.
Before I said that these rules were unnecessary, that changed since Dan did the Traid video.

are we really done being interested in what rules are going to be enforceable for all 2.500 of us? No one else has a comment?

Please post feedback, make suggestions, etc. Thanks! - Try to type with proper spelling and grammar, but if you see another member with an error in their post, don't feel the need to correct them: ideas are more important than period placement.

delete, so i can speek lolcat? kthxbai. Haha, perhaps we make it acceptable if it's done deliberately and not excessively? For example, if I were to type entire paragraphs in an otherwise meaningful discussion in l33t speak, that would be a bit excessive. However, lolcat is kind of wonderful. Plus, I think the occasional (or maybe ever frequent) use of lolcat would be acceptable as these seem to be more guidelines than actual rules? Plus, who's to say that lolcat isn't its own completely correct grammatical system? We'll have to talk to a linguist!

Well if you occasionally use it for the sake of humor, that's fine. All that guideline is saying is put forth some effort when you post.

Chelsea you need to read a book by Steven Pinker called "the language instinct" and stop being a linguistic-creationist. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzMIKsrjcOI&rite like u wanna rite, rite! I'm dyslexic and I'm gonna turn off spell checker from now on when I post on this forum in order to protest this silly suggestion/guideline.

I'm dyslexic and I'm gonna turn off spell checker from now on when I post on this forum in order to protest this silly suggestion/guideline. Or, you could just say, "Hey guys! I think this suggestion/guideline is silly." and we'll listen to you that way? The only reason that is a suggested guideline is that sometimes people get lazy and it becomes difficult to understand posts. The reason for the second part of the guideline is that people will post purely to correct other people's grammar/spelling, which is basically spam as it doesn't contribute to the discussion at hand. This doesn't mean anybody will get in trouble for making a mistake, it means we're trying to make communication easier. It won't hurt anyone to put forth some effort when they post, or to ignore minor mistakes. If you're dyslexic, we're not going to hold that against you.

So why don’t we just break this list (actually two lists) into separate ideas? the user Real wrote what I thought was a good set of things most users expect from their fellow tribians. I think with this list instead of true admin justice, they should be generally up held and enforced by everyone. NOT to turn us all into annoying hall monitors, but rather to use the force of what the tribe is. In other words if a noob (or someone acting like a noob) starts taking personal swings at someone I'd probably say something about it. Nothing mean, because that wouldn’t do anything constructive, but I’d just say that it wasnt ok to treat someone like that. This uses the power of the tribe itself because we as a group of people decide that our culture doesn’t want that kind of behavior. We should just make it our responsibility to keep the peace with and for each other. The rules/guild lines however I think are different. They should give the admins enough power to enforce the rules when absolutely necessary. Chronic spammers who know what they're doing really don’t have a place on a discussion forum; neither do trolls. However without a rule it would be more unfair for an admin to freeze the account of some user if there was no written rule to refer to. I know the SPOTM thrives off of not having a ton of rules but really, Courtney posted 5 things that should have some weight (which jmejia1187 pointed out could be reduced to 4). So four rules that if you don’t follow the admins can do something or possibly remove your account, how bad is that? Here at SPOTM there are actually a large number of kids so things happen. Not everyone has grown up attitudes. People also get picked on which I think is more of an attack against tribal values than rules. Why don’t we do what we can to make this place less of a war zone. In the end I think that we should all be doing what we can to up whole the values now put into these guidelines/etiquettes. I also think that the basic rules what preserve the forum should be more than just bark from a toothless admin. I’m dyslexic too so I realize there will be errors in some of my post, but 4realzy, ppl wh0 write lke dis w0nt git t00 many replies. *Fails typing in t33x…*

I agree with what you've said, but I don't like the word "enforce." That's why we decided to call them guidelines instead - we're not going to punish members severely based on some sort of strict tally system or something. This thread is just to decide the kind of environment the members would like to be in, and use a set of guidelines to create that environment.
As far as members, once we have a set of guidelines, you guys can definitely point anyone to them if you feel a member is violating them (same goes for the values). You guys may not be able to punish members, so your voice may not have the weight that of someone with that ability, but you can definitely raise awareness and help keep the forum clean that way.

As far as the environment goes, if we don't want to use any guidelines then this is just a 4chan clone. And i don't see them creating anything but meme's If we are Truly something that will make a difference... guidelines makes us stronger and i belive it will help us from slipping back into a lvl 3 tribal state or even lvl 2. LOL idea that just popped up! One Guidline only Advance the tribe ( then put a link to David Logans video) that covers all of it, only people that can claim "i didn't know" are ones that didn't watch the speech. and what are those people doing here anyway?

We finished the draft and posted the guidelines here. If you have comments or suggestions, post in that thread or PM an admin.
