If a russian last name like Bogolyubov belongs to a female born in America. Does she have to add the A at the end? I say, "no since America doesn't have gender agreement." For example: In English, The cat is red for either male or female cat. In spanish, El gato es rojo for a male cat and La gata es roja for a male cat. The reason I used Spanish to prove this point is because it has agreement just like Russian.

In America, all previous cultures are obsolete. So, it's really her choice.

Very true. I'd think it would be up to her, especially seeing as America is supposedly the land of the free. Whichever last name she likes better, she can go with.

Which part of America? US? Mexico? Canada? Somewhere in South America?

She was born in Georga. She lives in Northern Minnesota now close to Canada. She's my girl friend and people don't believe me that she's real. This was one of their points that she's russian so her name would have to end in A. So, this will make them look rather silly when I tell them that it doesn't have to.
