Alas, I'm a complete n00b when it comes to recording with a webcam. I've installed Debut Video Capture Software, but the free version will only let me save to AVI, with abysmal audio-video sync'ing, or WMV, which I can't edit in VirtualDubMod. What would you recommend for recording/editing videos from a webcam? I only need very simple editing capabilities, i.e. just editing out chunks of time where I misspoke and combining multiple files.

Windows Movie Maker?
And you would upload the full think from your webcam in youtube, then download it from youtube. Then edit it. Then upload to youtube

Then upload to youtube YouTube wouldn't publish the unedited video, would it? i.e. would it be visible to just me? and what program would you recommend for getting the FLV? No thanks It doesn't let you record from webcam anyway (apparently it used to).

- Youtube direct webcam upload, and you would set it to private, AND you can (if your on firefox) google add ons, then in the addons for firefox search for youtube downloader.

Most basic video editors have an import from webcam feature...What OS are you on? Imovie does, and I'm pretty sure Windows Movie Maker does
