Is there actual software to use on the computer that is like a wiki, but only as a collective of data for personal reference? This is meant to be used for a project of mine for easy reference to edit and store data on specific characters/locations for the project. I don't want others to be able to access it, so an online wiki service is out of the question.
Am I making sense with this, or does such a thing not exist?

You could probably find a way to make a pass-word protected wiki that you only know the pass-word to. Other than that, I dunno.
