I have seen the end of the seaon an it was really good, except for the part that I didn't understand. at the end the Doctor comes back just because Amy remembers him?? How does that make any sense? If anyone would know the explenation to this please feel free to tell me 'cause I am completely at a loss here.

Weeell, he says time and time again that if something is remember it isnt really gone, like Amys parents and the Doctor. Maybe its a bit of a stretch but atleast it was consistent.

well, I've been watching since about mid-eight Doctor (Christopher Eccleston.) and I have to say, I kinda liked him, but most of all, I liked David. he was definitely the best one I've seen.

Ehh... It's been a while since anyone posted, but I'm hardly not going to post in a thread about Doctor Who. I've watched every episode since the revival, but only a few episodes from the originals, so I can't really comment on them. I loved Tennant, and I have to say he is my favourite Doctor, but that's because of how his character is. If I were to meet them in real life, Ten is the one I would most get on with/admire etc. I think Eccleston and Smith's characters are both realistic and interesting, but Ten just... brought something extra, I think. It's hard to explain. In "An Awful Lot Of Running" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAi4izfvXo4] the lyric "He is like fire, burning through time" is so true of Ten, and of Nine to a lesser extent, but it doesn't feel that way about Smith. That's the best way I can describe why I prefer Tennant. That said, I think all three Doctor's live up to the role, and in terms of quality of acting I really can't choose between them. But then there's the writing. I loved all of Steven Moffat's episodes, until he became head writer. The ones he wrote for Tennant were some of the best episodes since the revival. But the fifth series. Argh. I can just find so many criticisms. First, there's the lack of emotion. I don't know about anyone else, but some of the better Tennant episodes I found really emotional. This series, I just can't find it within me to care. That is the most important reason why I haven't liked this series as much. Second, the plots. For example: To name just a few: 1) The cracks were spread throughout time and space, but for there to have been cracks at the beginning of the series, the explosion must've already been set to happen. And if the explosion was already set to happen, the universe should have already disintegrated. 2) The general idea that the Doctor existed in the regenerated universe because Amy remembered him. I know it was kind of a recurring idea throughout the series, but that was never really explained. We never find out what exactly happened, from his point of view. 3) If plastic Rory was created from psychic traces at Amy's house, he wouldn't remember dying, because the last time Amy visited her house was before he died. 4) If the whole universe can be regenerated from a single atom, the whole universe should be predictable, meaning the new universe would still have the explosion of the Tardis and the cracks in time and would therefore still just disintegrate. 5) "Walk like you can see"?!? What. The. Hell. That's not how the weeping angels worked before. Right. I know some of those plot holes can sort of be explained, but the fact remains that it will never quite make sense. I also realise that RTD's plots were also full of plot holes. But I don't think they were as obvious as these, and after a RTD finale you always know exactly what happened, whereas with this series I wasn't sure quite what happened. Finally, the fifth series has been full of anticlimax for me: If you get locked away with no possible way of escape, never fear. Your future self will rescue you. Oh, and umm... all you have to do is press a button on the sonic screwdriver to open the thing. I think overall, this series has been much more of a kids' show. It hasn't got me thinking like it did before. I always used to come away from the show with something to think about, especially during the Tennant days. Some moral issue about mankind. That's one of the things that was so great about it: you got a non-human perspective on human life. I haven't really felt that this series. So umm... yeah. I had a lot to say. Basically, I loved Tennant, and don't have a problem with Matt Smith, but the writing has definitely got worse. In case you can't tell, I thought about this a lot. XD

Ohmahgah, I'm in loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvveeeeee with Doctor Who. I dun know how I missed this thread before...
I was introduced to it by my parents who were watching the new series, and I started with season 2 and it was okay. I LOVED Mickey, and I LOVED the Doctor...
I hate Rose.
There, I said it, I really, really dislike that girl.
I LOVE Martha, I LOVE Donna, I'm okay with Amy, I also LOOOOOVE Jack, Mickey, and Rory.
Tennant was my favorite, then Smith, than Eccleston. (New series) I can't rank the old series other than saying that I didn't much care for 6 7 or 8. But all of the others are waaaaayyy too unique to pick favorites. The new series Doctors are a little too similar for me.
I have more to say but I'll stop. ^_^

What I want to know is, regarding The Big Bang... What was River Song doing at Amy's wedding, and how did she know to leave the Spotter's Guide as a "wedding gift"? If the universe was reset, and she didn't have a vortex manipulator, how did she get to Amy's time? (Unless you go with the theory that River Song is really from Amy's time period, despite the fact that she's most commonly found in the 51st century.)

When the 'first' series started (ie with Christopher Eccleston), I was living in the UK, so I watched it from the very beginning. When David Tennant left, I (like a lot of people) had the feeling that Matt Smith wouldn't be as good as David, but I think that was simply because everyone was used to David playing the doctor. Having seen Matt's first season though, I have to say that he's doing a great job aswell I agree that this series has a number of unanswered questions about some of the aspects of the plot, but from what I've heard the next series will continue developing the River Song and cracks-in-the-wall storylines.

i really didnt like the new series in comparison to the old new series. Not only do I miss Tennant, and Eccleston before him, but i just found this season very... Poorly written in comparison. For instance, in the final ep, right at the start he touches the two sonics and they spark yet at the end he doesn't zap when he touches himself... If you know what I'm talking about thanks

I agree that this series has a number of unanswered questions about some of the aspects of the plot, but from what I've heard the next series will continue developing the River Song and cracks-in-the-wall storylines. I really hope they can fix this up, it seemed really tacked on rather than the thought through series that I was used to. Matt Smith did nothing wrong I agree, but Stephen Moffat seems to have slipped in his writing. I may just be missing Phil Collinson's deep respect for the classics and maybe that's what help the show together as an amazing show. To me, now, it seems very pop culture, before I felt like the show was very personal and I quite enjoyed being in (what felt like) a minority cult following. Now it feels like they are trying to expand their borders and I don't really want to share my nerdy little show with the jocks and skanks of the pop world. Or at least the majority of the pop-y teen-y world...

EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAID!!!! I agree with you 1 bagillion percent. I don't think the angle they went for was kids show, I think they dumbed it down so that they could get in a wider variety of viewers, which I find children of my age are in fact quite useless and dumb in the majority. This, like every re-imagining to widen the boarders will no doubt lose a LOT of cult support. Which is sad, because that is what Phil Collinson aimed not to do and within one season Piers Wenger, I feel has all but ruined that

So, I've now watched the first 4 seasons of the reboot. It's quite good. I'm not jizzing over David Tennant or anything, but I liked it.
Season 1 finale: Kinda cool
Season 2 finale: Better, a bit heart breaking at the end
Season 3 finale: Don't you hate shows where a person/people just completely forget the entire episode? It was alright.
Season 4 finale: "Brilliant". Great way to close a series (even though it didn't really end).
I'm on vacation right now, so I can't really download season 5. What I've found weird is how people don't talk about Doctor Who very much (irl). Like, since I've started watching, I've made little references to the show, even in real life conversation. I've yet to hear anyone do the same :[
EDIT: How could I not mention companions? I'm stupid.
Rose: Not much to say, I don't know how you can't like her. To people who started with the 2005 season, she was, and still IS The Doctors companion. Almost cried at the end of season 2. Although, the little points where she came back for a few seconds in season 4 was just weird and unneeded (of course she was needed in the finale though).
Martha: gtfo bitch. I really disliked her. I felt like she was The Doctors puppy. Just followed him around, didn't do much. Loved him, but wasn't loved back. I liked her so much more when she went to work for UNIT
Donna: Now Donna was great, but for other reasons. She made season 4 hilarious and exciting (enough of all that romantic crap). I was sad at the end of season 4 though, again, back to people forgetting and entire episode, but this was an entire life. She wasn't as much of a puppy as Martha was. She actually could manage on her own, and did quite well. Again, I liked her.
Haven't seen season 5 so I can't comment on Smith or Amy. So yeah, I'll be back later with that review.

Just remember that, when there were cracks, Amy still remembered her parents. It's established later that she can't remember what happened to them. The fact that she was still able to remember them, despite the fact that they had "never existed", is amazing. Especially if you think "well, if they never existed, then how was Amy born in the first place?" Whoops, I think I found another plot hole.
The way I see it with The Doctor's representations in Amy's room is that his image was captured in her imagination and her dreams. To everyone else, they were just stories that she made up. Amy seems to have some sort of special psychic stuff going on, for some reason. How does The Doctor keep finding these girls? XD
