IMHO, District 9 was the best movie of 2009. Probably the most realistic, or at least somewhat believable, "alien movie" to date. I'm hoping that they'll make a sequel.

I always have a very hard time making a movie list. I'm a film junkie Some favorites are, The Shawshank Redemption, A Clockwork Orange, The 40 Year Old Virgin, City of God, the Indiana Jones series (the first 3 more so than the 4th), Good Fellas, The Fugitive, Ong Bak (1 and 2), Forrest Gump. Maybe I'll update later, but those are the ones that I can remember offhand.

Garden State has always been my favorite. I can't lie though, Avatar was the best movie I've seen in the last 5 years, maybe longer.

Mine have to be Watchmen, Milk, The Bodyguard, Ghost and Dirty Dancing.
I was told that Avatar's story line is really similar to Pocahontas? I don't know if this is true or not because I haven't seen Pocahontas :/

Avatar, the effects make up twofold for the plot.
The Ringer, which sounds like a touching movie but is a hilarious comedy.

@conjoin Music I saw Alice in Wonderland. I love Tim Burton and his way of telling stories I just fell for it even if it isn't the best approach. Some of my favourite movies: Memento, The Butterfly Effect, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski (I'm the DUDE!), Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands, Shutter Island and so much more
