With a lack of independent book and music (or other) stores, list some widely unknown finds in music, film, literature, et cetera, ideally recreating that indie pre-information-age feel. The more underground/lost in time the better.
Example: This Heat (1976-1982), experimental English band of the post-punk era, known as being very influential in the creation of post-rock, industrial, and noise-rock genres.

wow. just.. wow I just had 8 amazing minutes thanks to you. I wish I could post something myself, but although I have a lot of alternative music, I don't really of anything that you call 'lost in time' that comes in mind right away. I'll keep thinking though

Woah... Amazing song. I'm surprised that something like that came from the late 70's/ early 80's period.

Woah... Amazing song. I'm surprised that something like that came from the late 70's/ early 80's period. You'd be surprised by how much radically different music happened during that era ('77-'82ish). Punk ran its course extremely quickly, so punks decided the most punk thing they could do was abandon punk and listen to a bunch of German bands, such as Kraftwerk and Can: (from 1971) and incorporate synths and different rhythms into their own music. Thing is, many of these post-punk bands were so radically experimental that few saw the light of day. People much preferred the more pop-friendly incarnations of New Wave and the rising Synth-Pop, and only in the 90's did anyone pick those weirder records back up.

Not likely to be everyone's cup of tea, but I guess that's why it's here.

I don't know if it is forgotten or just unknown to our generation. I grew up with it because my father is a big fan of M*A*S*H
