I missed the vidcon presentation, and then checked on here for the project. Then thought 'wtf? Controlling him's a bit SHIRT' While at a party last night haha. Then I got home this morning and looked for the presentation. Now I'm thinking 'That's brilliant! This is so amazing, If this is successful, the world is gonna change' :')

I was expecting a lot more. But for what it is it's pretty cool. I mean we can tell him to do ANYTHING. We can tell him to buy a small town in Africa and let US run it. We can tell him to create a computer company. We can tell him to build a website for people who want to work on awesome projects together. Or we can tell him to do something as simple as walk his dog. The possibilities are endless. I don't think we can force him to spend undue amounts of his money. After all, its the mans livelihood.

He said he'd rather be poor (possibly rich) and generous, than keep all his money to himself

Wow. Dan, you disappointed me. A lot. -.- Gesh: he said that he had collaborated with Revision 3 (as we suspected), and that they are making a system for voting. My guess would be that they would put it on its own website. We could either be idiots and make him do stupid things, or we could make this really really phenomenal. We could make him start charities, go pick up litter, etc. Think of the possibilities. How will the voting system work? It would seem that a committee would need to be voted in to sift through the ideas and organize them into similar categories, which would then need to be voted again. This joint project will also define the pogo tribe as much or more than it will define Dan.

You guys seem to be forgetting a major point. Revision 3 is funding this! They will give him money to do some ideas...

Why can't those things be a goal? One of our Pogotribe values is to think impossibly big! Sure, something like "End world hunger" or "End all wars" can't be a goal for the day, but perhaps a goal for the entire year, or even half a year? If we make something big like that one of our end goals, we just have to take little steps throughout the course of the year and play our cards right, and then who knows, maybe we'll get there. If those things were possible by one human being dont you think people would have done it already? Some of you seem to think that him delegating power to other people means he in return becomes more capable of achieving things he couldnt normally do, which is nonesense. Hes a young adult with limited funds, the possibilities arent as endless as you think, in fact they are very limited. If you think just because hes being told to solve world hunger or told to run for president he now gains some sort of superpowers and can start achieving these goals, you are deluded. "Solve all wars" "Solve world hunger" are just so innanely stupid to suggest and consider an option for one years worth of action from a 20 year old. I think theres a lot of potential for this project to be successful, but not in any capacity you are thinking of. Entertaining and interesting, yes. World changing and head turning? not in my opinion. If anything this project will just achieve more youtube subscribers to see the crazy things people make him do, which is probably the end game anyway, when you try make a career from it (not offence to dan there, just saying how it is).

Dan has been challenging the S.P.O.T.M to come up with great projects to help better the world. Now is our chance to really show him that we can really help the planet, because this isn't just his project, this is OUR project, and our proving grounds to show him he's not wasting his time!

THINK IMPOSSIBLY BIG
I think this is the thing we need to be focusing on the most. Of course he can't end world hunger in a day, but he can take steps toward it. He's got an entire community of people at his fingertips. Most of the people on here would ask "how high?" if Dan told them to jump, because they put faith in his abilities, just as he has put faith in ours.
Ending world hunger and ending wars are impossibly large movements, but it has to start somewhere. Do you think Gandhi was told it was impossible to end British rule in India? Of course.
Changes start at a grassroots level. Ending world hunger can begin by promoting local farmers, vegetarianism, the boycotting of fast food restaurants, donating a goat to a village in a third world country, etc. It's not going to happen in a year, but you'd be surprised at how far we'd get.
This is the beauty of democracy and of community.

best-case scenario: August 2011: Dan Brown is well on his way to being an influential member in the politics of at least his local community.
worst-case scenario: August 2011: Dan Brown, a weary and broken shell of his former self, meekly rejoices the end of 4chan's rule over his daily life.

On further consideration, all you would have to do to hinder 4chan's pranks is make the voting not anonymous. Those people don't have the courage to show their identities when doing something stupid.

Ah, they have their ways. A non-anonymous system wouldn't be foolproof.
In any case, let's just hope for the best and make sure we're adamant and whatnot.

I truly think this has the potential to change the world. I'm just worried that there are people out there that will take advantage of Dan and do something sick...
