There are a lot of "serious sally" threads in anything and everything. I feel that anything and everything is a bit more for your free spamish tendencies and these serious sally threads should be moved to the debate area. I just am tired of people going "treat my thread/opinion with respect!" when they're talking about something serious amongst a chattering lunch room.
Just my 2 cents.

Maybe the Debate Club could be renamed to "Debates and Serious Discussions"

It's called "Anything and Everything," not "Happy Fun Spammy Time! " All threads should be treated with with respect, no matter what forum they are in. A thread creates its own environment, the board does not. Anything and Everything is not a "chattering lunch room," it just happens to contain threads that can be described as such.

I meant more "spamish" as in more general discussions, not serious in-depth discussions, is all. Sorry that I needed to clarify that. I should have expanded my thoughts and used better word choice within my first post and I apologize for that. It's just that I frequently see more serious related subjects that would be better suited elsewhere. I feel that Debate Club is where these threads should be focused in. Maybe the description of said section could be expanded yet I feel it is pretty efficient at the present moment in time. Changing the wording around could bring attention to this to encourage said threads to come to life there.
Of course you can always leave anything and everything with these threads. I personally feel it gives the forum a inkling more order though. That way the thread can avoid sardonic remarks left upon them that comes more common in that area of the forum.
Yes I agree that it should be treated with respect but it comes with the territory of a general section. Not criticizing SPoTMs moderation skills but it doesn't seem as if your team discourages as much of the "trolling" that is present there. If that is the case of the forum it's best to try to eliminate metaphorical food for said trolls. I understand that it may be a policy* to let them speak freely but to avoid such conflicts in the first place it might be best to move the threads to another location.
As a metaphor; One shouldn't walk down they dark, scary alley and assume nothing will happen. It's best to avoid the dark alley so you don't get hurt even though there is not always a chance for danger.
Just a suggestion ^_^
*I have no idea if this is or isn't your policy
