Happysauce. K, so long story short, I'm in a position where I could get paid to design a webpage for a local haunted house- and get paid. Now, this would be even awesomer if I had any experience with designing webpages. Well, I have some (see johncoynemusic.com/). However, I'm mighty fine at designing graphics (see my sexiness). So tell me forum, (lol) where should I start on getting a webpage done for a local haunted house? It's a haunted house that my dad's friend is running and I want to help out, getting paid is my motivation. I have access to the guy's e-mail address. I saw his transactions and he spent around 3,000 dollars on just masks. I think he's pretty srs. I also want to incorporate video, mayhaps I'll start a Youtube channel with videos of his animatronics that cost tens of thousands off dollars. Yeah, that might work. So, does anyone have any tips? It's hosted on GoDaddy, I just made an "Under Construction" page (http://www.hvasylum.com/) in about three minutes. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the Home Page link, but watever. So, where should I start?

You got me all excited by posting here. I thought somehow your post would contribute to the discussion. I am disappoint. Does anyone have any real ideas? And to everyone who knows that I have Linux, I'm getting Windows 7 back on Thursday, so I can use Windows software.

Do you have any experience with anything? I'm thinking of going on to a Web development community and asking questions there.
And isn't Wordpress just for blogs?

Which would you recommend for a scary website? Which allows for the most customization?

I've got some experience. I've recently done guidetonerdfighting.com/ Do you know HTML? If not, I'd suggest learning it along with CSS and Javascript. PHP is nifty too. When does this haunted house website need done and how much are you getting for it? If you want, I could help you out and maybe we could share the earnings?

Yeeeah you're not going to be able to get others to help you out a ton / do it for you just so that YOU can get paid. ;P
Learn HTML and CSS for the most basic web design experience. If they want interactivity or any sort of more complex website features, then look into PHP, JS, or using something like Wordpress.

The site doesn't have to be too fancy, Just something with a couple of pages with ticket prices, pictures, videos, and general info. I want it to look really cool, however.
And I don't really want a ton of help, I learn the best with just clicking on things and figuring out what they do. I think that Wordpress is the most suggested thing right now. I'll check that out when I get Windows.
Also, I know a bit of HTML, but is it necessary to know it with Wordpress?

more css with wordpress...and if you want to handcode the site, you can find precoded snippets for menus and the like...and use iframes to embed video...stuff like that

Yeah, w3 is where I learned from. I was looking for something more of an advanced WYSIWYG editor.
But I could definitely take snippets of code from places and get it to all work together.

WYSIWYGs are good...to a point. you COULD use word and save their pages as HTML, but those generally turn out being crap, and full of messy code. microsoft publisher could work...but microsoft and web design just doesnt work. or...you could use dreamweaver, which CAN get complicated at times, but i believe it does have code snippets. in any case you WILL have to know code to make a site...unless you use wordpress...and even then yoiu need to know CSS, so yeah. get learning
