The end of the world as we know it will begin on the south pole of the moon. We will be the harbingers of a force beyond control, and I for one welcome our new robot overlords.
Or something like that.
The Reprap project is trying to build a machine that can make a copy of itself and also lots of other useful stuff. It can print 3d objects which can then be used to make another printer. Well, most of it anyway. This is definitely a work in progress, and what is needed is a large group of cleaver and imaginative inventors like you!
A lot of people have great ideas for new inventions, but don't have the means to create them. If they all have a 3d printer at home we will see an explosion of innovation that will change the world in ways we can't even imagine, thus the end of the word as we know it. This powerful force will spread like gossip in a barbershop, and before you know it... Robot overlords! believe me, they will be much better than the corrupt politician we have now.
I think the best way to get started is to make Dan do it. ;D
Dan is a cleaver guy and by watching him build one we can learn a lot. This will also put the project in the spotlight and will get people who aren't into techi stuff to contribute their valuable ideas. The pogotribe is very decentralized, that is we're spread across the globe with only the internet connecting us. If we can spread the reprap threw out our community it will be another thing that will tie us together.
What I want to do is get support here to vote this idea up as one of Dan's monthly projects. What do you guys think? Can we change the world together?
