Attention PogoChefs/College Students! So, I had an idea for college kids on a budget, like myself. I'm putting together a bunch of videos, and possibly a channel in the future, going over creative and cheap meals/snacks to make. I can make things up, make suggestions from user input (that's YOU!), and just go over some basic cooking tips, if need be. Here's the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywotrgS7mogAny input and help would be greatly appreciated, and will help me, and hopefully through me, you.

That sounds like a great idea. When I was in college, I lived off of ramen, canned soup, mac & cheese, and rice & beans. When I was feeling especially ambitious, I'd make spaghetti. I wish I knew how to cook actual food back then (I still don't know how to cook very much).
Best of luck to you!

Nice I usually eat spaghetti or bulgur salad or hot dogs or something. I usually improvise a lot in the kitchen, most of the time it works out just fine! But I'm not very picky about food so I guess that helps too ^^

I like this idea. I actually did a little cheapo cooking "show" in a video before. I also have some footage for another edition that I may edit up some time. I added the one I already have up as a video response to the initial video you posted, Dan. Here's the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=touXMxJo8rgHonestly, I wouldn't mind starting up a channel with you (and other PogoTribe members) where we do like a cheap cooking series. Let me know what you're thinking!

Are potatoes cheap? Grated fried potatoes are awesome. You can put anything on them.. Now that I think of it thats pretty much hash browns. So yeah, hashbrown pancakes, yay! =P

I've got a question: what kind of kitchen will you be working in? The in-dorm kitchen, with nothing but a microwave and a minifridge? Or something with a stove top, an oven, the whole shebang? What you cook can be somewhat limited by what appliances/tools you have in your kitchen. Although I do suggest trying out some crockpot recipes if you can! Or really, any kind of dish that can last you a good three to five days. That way, you can give yourself an extra 20 to 30 minutes per day for every day you don't have to cook. Are potatoes cheap? I think I managed to get a three pound bag of them for about $1.50 from Trader Joe's once. And potatoes are a wonderfully versatile vegetable! You can make french fries, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, latkes, hash browns, boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew... Not to mention that they're usually a main component in curry! Can you tell that I love potatoes? XD

I'll be sure to take that into account. And crockpot recipes are awesome, I love my crockpot, I'll definitely do some stuff in there.

In regards to my previous post, I may have misunderstood your intentions here. I wasn't trying to jump on something that you wanted to do alone; rather, I merely supposed that you posted here to do a collaborative sort of thing. If that's not the case, your idea is still really awesome, no doubt. Apologies if my post was taken the wrong way.
As far as suggestions go, a good idea may be to add where you bought the ingredients from and their price. An even cooler thing to throw in would be a video of you actually shopping for the ingredients whilst describing how you decide which items to pick up. I know that lots of college kids literally have no idea how to shop. Just some thoughts!

If that means making pasta with one hand, then by all means! =D My original idea was to just think of stuff, and gather recipes from friends family, the internet, and of course PogoTribians, then use them in practice so everyone can see how it will go, what you'll need, and the finished product. But if it gains enough momentum, and enough people want to participate, I don't know why it couldn't be a community/collab channel. >An even cooler thing to throw in would be a video of you actually shopping for the ingredients whilst describing how you decide which items to pick up. I know that lots of college kids literally have no idea how to shop. Just some thoughts! My thoughts exactly! I wanted to do it, but sadly, I just have my macbook and iSight, but I may jack a friends for that purpose, and maybe film that sort of thing this week, and definitely next time I will.

Great idea! I'm in college too, although I'm not completely broke, it's definitely a great way to get some "home cooked" food! Love it.

This is a great idea. I love to cook, and usually try to make something new at least once a month. Can't wait to see the videos. ;D

If you want to try something truly original, try college cooking on a budget, that tastes good, that is also healthy. Those three criteria combined can be quite challenging to meet.
