In Dan's address at VidCon, where he announced the concept of Dan 3.0, he mentioned a documentary called "Us Now". In this documentary, the key part that relates to Dan 3.0 is about a football (soccer) team in the UK called Ebbsfleet United. They have done the exact thing that Dan 3.0 is trying to do by letting the supporters of the team decide how the team will be run, right down to who plays what position in each and every game. Apparently, the team has been quite successful ever since they implemented this online voting model. You can watch the documentary for free here: watch.usnowfilm.comI think that Dan 3.0 should be looked at in this same way. I think that creating useless tasks like "hug a tree" or "get high fives" or whatever else are 100% against the spirit of the project. Many people (kids) are suggesting these tasks because they think that this whole thing is about what we want to see on Dan's YouTube videos. That is not what it is about. This is about us as a community having the power to make Dan's life decisions for him! We have the opportunity here to show how well a community such as ours can make decisions and achieve goals collaboratively. These goals should be in the spirit of long-term success for the individual over whom we have control (Dan). At the end of this year, we should have Dan begging us to continue running his life!!! Am I way off base here???
