This has to stop NOW.
In the last few weeks, several troll accounts have been spawned on these forums, yet I see absolutely no action being taken against them. One could say that there is no evidence to prove that these accounts are troll accounts, but come on... review the posts and use your common sense.
These accounts are contributing nothing to these forums other than provoking fights, tossing around insults and trying to get us to tear each other apart -- and get each other banned.
Why are these trolls still allowed to run rampant like a cancer here on SPOTM? Most discussions aren't even slightly productive anymore because of troll interjections.

When we see someone trolling (via reports or just happenstance) they are warned. We don't tell everyone who gets warned and for what because it's none of their business. We will continue to warn such people until it's clear that the warnings aren't being heeded OR until they shape up.
And the trolls are only "running rampant" because people continue feeding them.
I urge you to simply report the trolls via the "Report to Mod" link and NOT reply to them. At all. If someone says something trolly or spammy or whatnot in a thread, DO NOT REPLY. Report it and continue the conversation while completely ignoring that post's existence.
The type of people who post like that ONLY do so to get enraged reactions out of people. If they do not get the reactions they want, after awhile, they'll leave. Always.

And the trolls are only "running rampant" because people continue feeding them. People will continue feeding them. No matter what, if trolls where never feed they wouldn't appear in the first place. I think the mods should just step up and ban them, as they have been warned, and failed to stop, and the community wants it.

i have a question how do you classify trolls Anyone who disrupts the normal atmosphere of the community? And personally I think they should get the banhammer. One warning is enough, those who don't get it at first will never get it.

Real, a forum will never be able to completely ignore trolls. It's just an impossibility, and I've never seen it happen in multiple years of forum moderation, administration, and posting. People will always reply, and trolls will always bring out the worst. It's unavoidable. olatnip - A troll, by my viewpoint, is someone who posts in order to get an angry reaction out of people, or change the top of a thread completely for no purpose. While I'm sure everyone defines them definitely, it's certainly clear that they never benefit the forum. I say that after one warning it's a ban no matter what. If they do it more than once, they are just testing your powers. If you ease up and let them keep trolling, they know they've acquired the advantage over you. Show them who's boss early and they'll quit after the bad (as if they could come back )

Hey, I'm not saying that I don't agree that trolls should be quickly banned. But it's not just up to me. I'm sure the admin team will discuss bans on all reported trolls very soon, but I don't know if they will all be banned.
Sure, people will still reply to trolls despite my advice. Those people are fools. At the very least, I hope you guys (the ones who have replied in this thread) have now learned not to reply to trolls and won't do it anymore.

I think I'm reasonably up to date with the forum where trolls would be most expected (the Debate Club) and I haven't see many comments from any potential troll. Sometimes one or two give an obviously fake opinion so as to increase anger in the debate, but besides that, I don't see much trolls. I could be wrong, I haven't been monitoring the threads so carefully as I've been. Anyway, if you can't ignore a troll (which you should) I advice you to try and do this, but only as last resort: Warning: The video below was preformed by professionals in the art of the lulz and made in a closed circuit. Do not try this at home.
And no, I'm not resuming the video so you have to watch it all so you understand what I mean. Why? Because it is a dangerous task which can easily backfire and help the troll even more. So, if you simply are unable to ignore the troll's post (unlike most other interesting comments you ignore, just kidding), then try something like above, but think carefully before doing it and plan it with much time ahead, trying to predict any of the troll's next moves. Calm down, 2nd paragraph and forward were an advice wrapped in a joke

Is it that hard to ignore them? Seriously guys you don't HAVE to respond, it's not THAT hard to ignore people.

But what's the point of ignoring them if we can just get rid of them. They do not help the forum in any way. The are a negative influence on the forums. That's why they should be removed.

- At least one person will give them attention. That is all it takes.
- They spam and disrupt us.
- They should just be banned. End of story.
- P.S. Ihateyoukkkkkk is a troll also, although not as good at trolling as _nderscore.

how do you decide who is a "troll" Someone you posts blatantly (or sometimes, subtlety) off topic, repetitive, and provocative comments which have a negative influence on everyone, such as: i think its a good idea and they should introduce the death penalty in america In my opinion anyway.
