i agree that he needs support, but we can't be entirely nice to him. sometimes you need a good kick to get going again and so far, i haven't seen that. everybody has either been overly-sensitive or harsh. Dan, go ahead and do whatever you need to get better, but please, get over it.

For real guys. Find something more productive to do than criticize and speculate over Dan's hiatus. Be supportive! Discuss how the project could be improved, maybe?

Granted. The project would be improved by eliminating the 'without-warning' 2 1/2 week hiatuses.

uhhh what is every one complaining about.. have no one watched telivision and a show stops for a week for what seems to be no reason and you just wait unable to do anything about it... the only difference here is we are able to scream on this forum at him and make him feel worse about takeing time to start again. i mean he is a person. he feels stress and failure affects him and not being near his girl and so many small things... i can see how he feels like takeing a break... i say we sit back and wait till he returns and uhh yeah...

Stop it with the hand holding. This is not a weekly television series. This was sold as a project in which Dan's life was open and would be controlled by the online community for one year. There were supposed to be DAILY videos. That's how it was advertised. Dan needs to stop being a baby and get his ass back to work. He's losing support by the day. The longer he waits, the hard it's going to be for him to return. Either get back to it, or announce that it's over. One or the other, but disappearing with no word of when he will be back is total garbage.

Yup. I really want to see him get back at it and see it through, especially cuz I was really enjoying the project...But it's like letterx said..."Losing support". When this kind of thing happens in the professional world, you get canned. Luckily for Dan, this is a voluntary new media project - But I think if Dan waits much longer, he is facing the 'new media' equivalent of getting canned which is - Losing credibility and viewer loyalty.

Luckily for Dan, this is a voluntary new media project He can't just back out of it just because it's a new media project. It's not as voluntary as you make it sound. You don't think he's under contract and being paid by Rev3? I bet he is, and I bet he's under breach of that contract right now. It costs money to pay programmers to write an interface like the Dan 3.0 site on Rev3. Also, there's no doubt that Rev3 has sold advertising spots for Dan 3.0. People worked hard to sell those spots. Rev3 advertised the hell out of Dan 3.0 for over a month before it began, even on their most popular shows like Diggnation. They have a lot riding on this. I bet Dan even has a personal manager who has a stake in this. Dan is screwing a lot of people right now.

Dude, just cuz you don't agree doesn't mean we're trolling. It's a legit discussion with legit points of view, the thought police need not concern themselves with this thread if they don't like it Back on topic... Yeah, ultimately this is Dan's job (as far as I know) and not showing up to work for a couple weeks is pretty detrimental. I hope he gets his SHIRT figured out soon. (On the other hand, I just REALLY can't help but think - I make 2 vids a week, a web comic, work a full time job (usually with overtime) and support a family...And I still squeeze in some play time. How hard can it possibly be to only make 3 vids a week when that's your full time job?)

I think he could handle some things better.
For one he shouldn't have waited a week to tell us that he was taking a break from youtubing and wouldn't be doing the live show like he said he would. I know this is free content but by simply saying he would do something he now has an obligation to his veiwers to carry that out. If something happened I don't mind him taking a break but it's not that hard to tweet "Hey no new vids for a while, sorry"
He also did hype it up way too much and created unrealistic expectations. I know this is just the beginning and it'll get better but the rule is it's better to undersell a product or idea than it is to oversell it.
I still love him, but he is begining to strain his relationship with his veiwers. Mostly his other veiwers who are not me.

Yay for happiness. I hope he feels better soon... after all, stressing out about things isn't going to get you anywhere. Although it is unavoidable, it is pointless. But maybe he just needs a week off?

^wtf i love how you judge another man's life without ever being in his shoes. Nope, judging would be if I were assuming speculation as per his motives. This is called an opinion, and we're all allowed to have them. Deal with it!

there are 5 different types of feelings towards dan's missing...
1. People you think he should quit being a baby. (jerks) 2. People who dont care. (worried about nuthin) 3. People who are worried about his well being. (over reactors) 4. People who are trying to cheer him up. (too nice) 5. People who just think he needs his personal time. (nice people)

After not posting any episodes for over a week, I'm surprised to see that Revision3 still hasn't made Dan cancel the show. Right now he's just taking up space on their servers without making any revenue. I wonder what he did to make them stick with him.
Also, to be honest, we are not only Dan's fans, we're Dan's audience. We're the ones who make it possible for him to make money on his youtube videos. He has an obligation towards us. If he shows no sign of himself for over a week, he can't expect everyone to be all nice about it. If he doesn't deliver, we should have a right to question him without being called mean.
Also, Dan 3.0 isn't just another youtube show. He's on a contract, and by acting the way he does now, he's not just affecting himself financially, but also his business partner. He can't expect Revision3 to stick with him for much longer. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm all for Dan sorting himself out. But he should've at least made an effort to keep everyone updated... for example he could've asked someone to talk for him while he was gone on i.e. Twitter.

okay, he said in a tweet that a new video will come tomorrow.
No worries dudes, you'll get your Dan. Now back to real projects and not flooding the projects section without actually doing anything for projects.

Okay, I'm new here, but looking through this board I have a few thoughts:
Bothering his brother and his girlfriend are incredibly ridiculous: Someone said they messaged his brother? Are you serious? No one here even knows %100 what is going on. It may be something that is directly affecting his brother as well. And has anyone else seen Danielle's comment section on her YouTube page? It is littered with questions and speculation on Dan. Her YouTube page is not an open forum. I also took the liberty to look through her @replys on Twitter. Again, your single @reply isn't going to change her mind. Of course she knows what's going on, but it's obviously not something we have a right to know. Danielle and Dan have always been pretty open people, the fact they haven't said anything about this ordeal is a good sign that it may be something more intimate. You are not OBLIGATED to know anything. Sure, it sucks that you're in the dark, but pestering Danielle and Ben aren't going to get you anywhere if they haven't said anything yet.
Being under the assumption that Revision3 is in the dark as you is silly: I'm SURE Revision3 knows exactly what's going on. It's in their best interest to keep Dan on and it's in Dan and Dan's manager's best interest to keep their relationship strong. Revision3 probably has a lot of contact with either Dan or Kevin since this has begun. I'm sure Dan didn't disappear without telling Revision3.
Making up or assuming extreme things is unproductive: I've seen sooo many posts here and on Revision3's forum about Dan speculation. Speculating that Danielle is pregnant, Dan is broke, Dan is dead, Dan and Danielle broke up, etc is not only unproductive but kind of rude. I've seen posts analyzing Danielle's tweets that are somehow proving she is pregnant. Come on! This project isn't even about Danielle and there's a thread on Revision3's forum all about it. Some people are extremely gullible and they believe it. Please, just stop with the extreme speculations.
