Yes, he does. You should be patient.
There's no rule against starting your own triads (they're started naturally all the time), knock yourself out. Just know that you won't really be counted as an "official" triad.
Honestly, everyone will get the chance to be in a triad at some point, and it'll come with...benefits. So I'd just wait.

Do a local triad thing. Set one up with people you see IRL every day and you'll be able to do a lot more (no icky time zones to overcome). My friends and I started one and we love it!
