Remember this?I got ambitious. A month, in all honesty, won't make much of a difference. So let's go for a year. You can donate blood every 56 days. That's 6 donations. In a year you can save 18 people just by laying down with a pump in your vein for five minutes and eating cookies every two months. So, even if you can't donate blood - you can at least spread the word around. I want this to go beyond the moon - it would be great if as many people as possible got involved. So, here's how it's gonna work. As close as you can to January first, if you can donate, go donate. When you get back, report to This form. On a monthly basis I'll compile the results - and post them on the SPOTM blog and My own blog and possible here as well. Let's see how many people we can save - let's put SPOTM on the map.

Hmm.. Here's an idea:
For those who can't donate blood, donate to the Red Cross. Or whoever is the blood donation place for your country.. That's what I'll be doing.

I'm pretty sure that you can still donate with parental consent before you turn 18, I'm note sure.
It's how it works in Canada. You can donate at 16 with Parental consent - and donate without at 17

Actually it is 17 here, (just checked blood.co.uk)
Donating money... taxes cover it with the NHS so donations arn't really accepted.
EDIT: NHS - UK National Health Service for the UK. Free healthcare, *I believe you dont get that in the USA?

I can't donate until February; I already donated blood this month.
I've got a question/reminder, though: how many of you have signed up (or will be signing up) to be a bone marrow donor? I haven't yet, but I plan on it. =)

Signed up AND donated bone marrow
Also, I can't donate for awhile too - it WAS February, but then I went and broke my wrist, so now I have no idea

How does breaking your wrist prevent blood donation?

Not sure if it does or not - but one of the screening questions is "have you recently been in a doctor's care?" Which I have, and another is "have you recently had surgery?" which is also true, given the pins that are holding it all in place
